Summary: It is what it says it is: A companion to the One Year Bible
Review: David Kirkwood has produced a valuable tool for assisting all of us with the good intention of reading the Bible through in one year(using the readings of the One Year Bible). Most of our intentions fall short of the ideal, and we get sidetracked by days of little insight, especially on some difficult passages. Our noble quest for a consistent devotional life, is so easily discouraged, by a lack of time, lack of time for deep study, and every conceivable distraction.

I once read that if you want to make a positive change in anything, get yourself a few companions to keep you on track. This book is a faithful friend to help our feeble understanding on the difficult days. It is an easy-to-understand, layman's commentary of the scriptures with a Spirit-filled, or charismatic slant in theology.

This book is written from a "practical" theology perspective. It will not make you a theologian, but will give you the practical insight to apply and "rightfully" understanding the basics of your year's worth of Bible reading. It makes our good intentions, a profitable journey. Those who succeed in this annual reading of the Bible will be richly blessed, with insights for living, fodder for Bible/Sunday School teaching, and that "Big Picture" overview fo God and His Word that not many Christians today have. This kind of successful discipline will fill in the gaps in our understanding. On another front, the daily reading of the pure Word, along with this commentary is a good defense against deception. Also, it encourages your practical faith in God and His Word.

So whether your commitment is to read the entire Bible, or parts of it, i.e., the New Testament, or Psalms and Proverbs, you will be better equipped to profit from your journey if you read these "companion" passages of commentary along with your daily Bible readings.

This book is exactly what it says it is, "A charismatic companion" to understanding the daily readings of the One Year Bible.
