Rating: Summary: Angels God's Messengers Review: Emanuel Swedenborg lived the last 27 years of his life interacting and dialoguing with angels.
In this day and age "angels" have become very popular. I have visited stores where everything that is sold has to do with "angels". The popular TV show "Touched by an Angel" and also "Miracles Do Happen".
Having been raised a Roman Catholic the fact that I had a "guardian angel" was never far from my consciousness. It wasn't until I was 30 years old that I realized the impact of my "guardian angel" when I was pregnant with my daughter Lisa and waiting to deliver. A few nights before, my "guardian angel" came to me in a dream and told me that all would go fine. I was under complete bed rest, my doctor was concerned and this powerful dream came at just the right moment.
Swedenborg had many experiences, in the company of angels he visited heaven and hell. His book "Heaven and Hell" gives you detail explanations of his encounters.
Rating: Summary: Angels in Action: A review Review: This book is a quick read (111 pages) about the functions of angels' work with humans. The book includes a brief bio chapter about Swedenborgs' life which helps the reader understand his scientific background. The book covers how angels "live" in the higher realms and why they care about helping us. It includes beautiful black & white illustrations by John Flaxman which compliment the etheric subject matter. This is a good book for Swedenborg novices because the interpretation is easy to understand. I found some of Swedenborg's direct translation books (Heaven & Hell, Divine Providence) a little difficult to grasp at times due to the language of that period (i.e. "As government from good, which is the kind of government that exists in the Lord's celestial kingdom, is called righteousness, and government from truth, which is the kind of government that exists in the Lord's spiritual kingdom, is called judgement, so the terms "righteousness and judgment" are used in the Word when heaven and the church are treated of, "righteousness" signifying celestial good, and "judgment" spiritual good, which good, as has been said above, is in its essence truth, as in the following passages:...". See what I mean?I recommend this book highly!
