Rating: Summary: Still indispensible after nearly a century Review: Samuel Driver was the outstanding Bible scholar of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and this book is among his finest achievements. Although first published nearly 100 years ago, it is a font of information still not readily available elsewhere and remains the finest available commentary on Deuteronomy. Of course, it must be used with some caution, but it has stood the test of time remarkably well. For chapters 1-11, there are commentaries by Duane Christensen and Moshe Weinfeld, and Christensen's commentary on the rest of Deuteronomy should appear soon, but Driver will still retain some value for the foreseeable future.
