Rating: Summary: My commentary for The Open Bible Completely Revised Review: I have found this Bible study the most exelerating and refreshing enrichment since I have been studying the Bible. Everything you want to know is there! and more. I normally buy a discouse by a historian scholar but this kept my interest.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Study Bibles ever Review: I have used a lot of study Bibles over the last 25 years and this is one of the best. I love the cyclopedic index which is over 200 pages long. It defines a term, such as "peace" and then shows key incidences of it in the Bible. The type face is easy to read and there are in-text charts, maps and word studies. The New Living Translation is a good translation for personal devotional reading and public reading as well. This Bible also shows good workmanship and you will be pleased with it. I use this study Bible along with the New American Standard Ryrie Study Bible.
Rating: Summary: Please Read Before You Order!!! Review: I recently purchased the "Open Bible". I am very pleased with the service I received from Good Stewards!! Although I would strongly suggest that you choose the Rush Delivery. Regular delivery is not trackable. Amazon.com deliver's it if you choose regular mail. Good Stewards recently gave me wonderful service and very helpful and very polite!! I do strongly recommend this bible to anyone Especially a 1st time Christian!! It has great references for reading the bible in different ways. It has good references throughout the bible on different topics. If you are reading a certain scripture and you would like to know more about that topic. It might have a reference to another scripture. In the middle of the Bible it has a Visual Survey of the Bible!! This was really cool. It has some Archaeological Discoveries in the back of the bible as well as a Biblical Cyclopedic Index. It also has and Index to Visual Bible Study Aids. Sometimes things do happen in our lives but, when you are in contact with a good Christian Book place like "Good Steward Books" you are IN GOOD HANDS!!! God Bless You! Janine Petty
Rating: Summary: Reference Check Review: I was reading the reviews of this Bible and found two which troubled me. You see, I believe that this is an excellent study Bible, I own one and am contemplating the purchase of another. The study aids and references are easily found and easy to read. It increased my understanding of God's word quite a lot. In fact my 12 year old sister likes this Bible because she understands the language better than in a KJV, however the changing of a few words seems to offend some of the readers of this Bible. In later reviews they refer to the changing of the word black in Song of Solomon 1:5 to dark. This is a perfectly acceptable translation of the word when one considers the translation from Hebrew to english can be dusky which is dark while not necessarily black. And in the second complaint from Song of Solomon 5:11 which is about being bushy headed. The original Hebrew word is translated as vibrating and pendulous meaning wavy and long. I see no problem with either translation. Please check your references before you slam an excellent and helpful translation of God's word. (I checked mine in the Strong's Concordance. It translates from the original Hebrew and Greek which our Bible was written in.)

Rating: Summary: Average Review: I've had this Bible for a while, but I no longer use it. The notes are not that informative. There's not much information in this Bible. I find it to be lacking in many areas. This is my personal reaction. When I first received it, I thought it was a nice Bible, but upon serious study, I changed my mind.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Study Bible Review: If you prefer the New King James Version this is probably the best study Bible on the market. By the the Product Details you can get the idea this may not be the Bible you want to travel with, but the study notes are the best I've ever seen. Well worth the price!
Rating: Summary: Not God Inspired Review: The Book of Songs of Solomon Chapter 1 verse 5 is suppose to read as follows. I am Black and comly, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of ken-dar, as the curtains of Solomon. Chapter 5 verse 11 reads as follows, His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy. This Bible reads Chapter 1 verse 5 reads as follows. I am dark but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, Like the tents of Ke'dar, like the curtian of Solomon. chapter 5 verse 11 reads.. His head is like the finest gold, His locks are wavey, and as black as a raven. Until the Gentile could come though the isle of Javon there was no white race. Science has proved that all races come from the Black race. The bible should be a book of truths not lies.
Rating: Summary: You can really understand what the Bible Means! Review: The Open Bible has been a a part of my life for almost 20 years. I have used it as a practicing christian since 1977. It was first pulished in 1976. You are looking at the newer version. I have tried to tell as many people as possible, when I see them standing in front of a Bible rack in a secular book store in a daze, that the open Bible is all they need, other than a strongs concordence. There were originally 15 christian life outlines. They have since expanded on them, but when you are reading the text itsself, you are not distracted with a third of a page of what somebody's intrepretation of what it says. If the study outlines are actually studied out, and applied to the book, you will see why people have too long leaned on a whole library of commentaries. Also, there is an extensive, manageable topic index in the front. It covers just about anything in the bible, and if you want to know where to find a beginning knowledge of a subject, such as marraige, or the Holy Spirit, or any one of several hundred charactors in the Bible, the index will not only tell you what book, chapter and verse, but also what page! You can then go on, and use another study aid, such as a Strongs concordence, to study something extensively, such as grace, love, a georgraphic place, etec. If you use these simple to understand, and brief subject studies, you will be amazed at what you know about Gods word in a year! , along with prayer and a life committed to god, you will know just as much--or more as the preacher!. Buy this bible (it comes in several translations not listed here), and also you can get it in hardcover, which wears better than the leather. I wish I had had this Bibe as a teenager. It sure would have affected my life quite dramatically. I"ve seen an extreme with people and Bibles. Either they buy a Bible with no notes at all, and remain ignorant of the Bible most of their life, or they buy a bible that doesn't allow the reader his own thought and reflections hardly at all. Also, the references given make sense! I've owned a couple of Bibles that I never did figure out what the logic behind the references were.
Rating: Summary: The ForEver Changing Book of All History Review: This version of the Bible does not only correct grammatical and punctuation errors, but it also places its own interpretation upon many words. For example the original word in the KJV was "black" in Solomon 1-5, they changed it to "dark" and state that it means suntanned. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE WORD TO DISCRIBE A BLACK PERSON CAN BE SUNTAN INSTEAD OF BLACK? King James used the best word there and it was Black. Likewise in the book of the Songs of Solomon 5:11 the Bible states that "Solomon was bushy headed", but this book changes the word "bushy", to wavy. There is no way to confuse a bushy headed person with a wavey headed person. There are so many verses, which have been left to show that the blackness of the Bible that I felt obligated to share that there are many other changes taking place contantly it is up to you to decide if it makes no difference whether you get truth or not.
