Review: "Doctrines of the Restoration" is an edited compilation of various talks by Bruce R. McConkie. His son does a good gob of editing and providing commentary between sections and providing helpful footnotes and scripture refences. This book is a repository of many of his "between books" discourses.

Some of the diamonds in the book are"The Purifying Power of Gethsemane," his last discourse and "Lord God of Joseph Smith," a 30 minut primer on the Gospel. Other gems are "An open letter to Honest Truth Seekers," and his commentariesw on Revelation and Isaiah. No McConkiephile can be without this valuabel book.

However, there is one ommision--McConkie's famous aqddress, "Seven Deadly Heresies." It is references briefly on p. 23-24, but the bulk of this talk is missing. For hard-core doctrinairs, this talk is available on Deseret Book's Classic Talks.

Overall, this is an essential work for students of Bruce R. McConkie and of Mormonism.
