Rather than focusing on the specialness of David, the author focuses on his common bond and likeness to modern humankind. The Chapter on Sin is one of the best in print today, the author carefully takes the issues common to humankind and through the use David's growth as a model for man the author carefully brings the options open to man in focus. The next Chapter on Being Your Brother's Keep is very thoughfully written and focuses again on the growth that comes in accepting that we are in this together.
