Rating: Summary: BEWARE!! Review: Do not buy this book unless you are aware that Amazon.com has the title listed incorrectly for this book. They have the title as Walking Side by Side:Devotions for Pilgrims (Emmaus Library). This book is in fact not said devotions. If you look "inside the book" you will see that the title is In the Shadow of God's Wing:Grace in the Midst of Depression. Make sure you are ordering the book that you really want.
Rating: Summary: A Depression-Spirituality Connection Review: Susan Gregg-Schroeder is an ordained minister who has suffered with depression, however, she notes the importance of living WITH depression, not simply having it or recovering from it. This book is very different from books that address depression as something to overcome. Instead of offering a victory scenario, Gregg-Schroeder invites readers to sit with God in the midst of our pain and to notice that spiritual gifts are also present in the midst of that depression. She speaks of the grace received, an acutely-taken perspective on depression that reminds me of Kathleen Norris's odd take on Dakota and spiritual geography. This book is for people in the midst of depression--whether one's own or that of a loved one.
