Summary: Finding God and His working in times of personal crisis
Review: Christians aren't immune to the trails and troubles of this world, in fact the opposite may be true. Terry Wardle describes his assent into a period of darkness in his own life and the things that God taught him along the way. Refreshingly there is none of the quick-fix solutions that seem to pervade modern counseling. Instead we find the hidden value in allowing a loving and patient God to deal with us in measured and gradual steps. Personal growth and genuine healing are the results of allowing God to work in us at His paces and through His word and messengers. Rooting out our deepest hurts and restoring us to our position in Christ is often more painful when approached in this way but infinately more successful. The author ends his book with a call for the wounded to become healers for others facing severe crisis. I highly recommend this book for it's clarity, compassion, and candor. It literally helped me to find my way through the deepest darkness of my life.
