Summary: Classic treatment of an often misunderstood concept
Review: Horatius Bonar is a "Marrow Man" through and through as he tackles an often misunderstood concept of how a Christian is to pursue holiness of life. Bonar recognizes that striving for holiness without the proper motivation will always result in mixed obedience and frustration on the one hand or a self-righteous legalism on the other. Only the love of God in Christ, experientially known, can truly motivate the sinful heart to pursue holiness with "fear and trembling." This book is exceptional and should be read by every pastor who ever wondered why his congregation lacked a zeal for Christ-likeness.
