Hebrews, Verse-By-Verse: A Classic Evangelical Commentary

Summary: Hebrews comes alive
Review: Newell is always good and whilst this commentary is not quite up to the Romans standard it is pretty close. Newell is conservative and dispensational. He handles each verse at a devotional / semi-technical level in the main body of the text. This would be enough to recommend the book. But he also drops down into some of the best technical footnotes you will come across.
My favourite part though is his clear desire to inspire rather than simply inform. His section on Heb 1:1-3 and his description of communicating IN SON has inspired me and many others (that I have shared it with) more that enough to justify the entry price alone.
