Summary: How to Pray When Life Hurts
Review: Fantastic book to take your prayer life deeper

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Uniquely helpful book on healing prayer
Review: Roy Lawrence has written a unique book on healing prayer. While believing in the healing power of faith, he is Biblically-based and he avoids the excesses of "faith healers" who ignore the will of God. He is also broad in his approach to healing, dealing chapater by chapter with guilt and shame, anger and depression, hurtful experiences, anxiety and fear, stress, envy, illness, and grief. I found his section on bereavement so helpful that I used the book for a prayer retreat and invited people who had lost loved ones to come, and they found the retreat very helpful. The "forgiveness prayer" that he gives is worth the price of the book. He has some especially meaningful suggestions using visual aids in prayer, through imagining bringing the sick within your "ring of peace" to pray for them, and in death imagining Jesus standing at the top of the stairs and releasing that person to Christ. The book is creative, passionate, and practical.
