Summary: Active Catholics Share Vision of Newly Initiated
Review: The book is designed for parish leaders and individuals as a way of offering the richness of the RCIA (Right of Christian Initiation for Adults) process to active Catholics, who have expressed an interest in "something like" RCIA to deepen their own faith. The "catechumenate," as RCIA participants are called, embark as a community, supported by the parish community, on a year-long structured examination and study of Church teaching and practices.

In Living Baptism Daily, Fr. Mick emphasizes the flavor of RCIA with reflections on such topics as ongoing conversion, scripture, and the sacraments. Each of the 12 short chapters ends with prayer and questions for discussion. The sections on community and welcoming the stranger are especially enlightening for some old-time Catholics who grew up in a less participatory Church.

"Those who are baptized after a rich experience of the catechumenate know that their faith is linked to the community that welcomes them," Fr. Mick writes. "Those who live baptism daily reflect often on their identity as members of the Body of Christ, remembering that they are called to make him present wherever they go and to look for his face in everyone they meet."
