Summary: good book for anyone who wants to learn more
Review: I will probably make lots of people mad with my review. When I give the book only one star, I do not mean that it is a horrible book. For me, I could not connect with the book. However, I do not think that it is necessarily an awful book. On the contrary, I think that it would be a wonderful book. A friend of mine is reading this book and thinks it is absolutely excellent.

I think this is first and foremost a good book for anyone just starting out to learn about the discipline of prayer; it's purpose is served best as an introductory book. It would also be useful for anyone who wants a refresher or wants some additional insights on prayer-- the sections in the book on spiritual armor(Ephesians 6) and the names of God are worth the price of the book alone.

I suppose why I couldn't connect with the book is that the above mentioned sections are the only parts of the book that I could connect with. I don't like prayer books with prayer scripts already written out b/c I feel like I'm forcing myself to pray a "formula" prayer. Also, for me the prayer schedule in the back of the book is confusing. It seemed to me like she was endorsing only her method of prayer, and that if you prayed in "her" way, you would be guaranteed answers to prayer that you wanted.

Summary: A practical volume for Christian intercession
Review: My church is in the process of creating a permanent prayer room on our campus. Elizabeth Alves book is the one I'm recommending for our leadership team as we attempt to make good decisions. She covers the essentials while pointing towards the depth of true intercession. I heartily recommend "Becoming a Prayer Warrior"!

Summary: Focused, Spiritual and Simple
Review: This book is written with an objective in mind... to list systematically and biblically the path to pray. The phrases used like "Peace of mind comes by continual prayer" page 51 and "Spiritual things must be spiritually discerned" warms the heart and keeps one reading and being mindful of what being a prayer warrior would entail.
