Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: The book that started the downhill trend for Protestantism Review: For those who want to know why evangelical Protestantism is going downhill these days should read this book. Confusing "law" with "grace" and redefining "faith alone" as "obedience to the law" is a denial of the Gospel preached by Luther, Calvin, Paul and most importantly Jesus Christ. Avoid this book for your soul's sake.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Book on Law and Grace Review: This book is the Doctoral thesis of Daniel Fuller. We should be thankful to Dr. Fuller for publishing this book and his insight into how this book could impact the current evangelical world. Dr. Fuller is not alone in his views. All one has to do is read many of Dr. Walter Kaiser's (President of Gordon-Conwell Seminary) works to find a view concerning the law that shares much common ground with Gospel and Law. The great commentator and teacher C. E. B. Cranfield also holds a view concerning the law similar to this view. Dr. David Stern, author of the Jewish New Testament commentary holds Dr. Fuller's view and credits Dr. Fuller. Dallas Willard has cited the influence of this book in his works. John Piper has cited Daniel Fuller as one of the major influences on his theology. Does the law of God reveal the will of God? Does the law of God contain the promises of God? Does the law of God give shape, substance and definition to the grace of God? Did the heroes of biblical faith approach the law by faith believing in God's grace, empowerment, provision, promises and grace? Did Paul understand that the law should not be approached as a way to earn God's favor or merit, but rather the law should be approached by faith with the understanding that it is us who are in need of a physician. And by following what the great physician has instructed us to do through obedience to God and his law we can be delivered from the power of sin and death and live according to the law of the spirit which imparts life. How did this dichotomy of law and grace begin? What are it's roots? Where does it find it's current expression in the evangelical community? Why is it a wrong interpretation of the biblical faith? How can we reconcile law and grace in a way that is cohesive, consistent, coherent, and clear? Gospel and Law will answer these and many other questions for us. Dr. Fuller, thankyou for an excellent treatment on the subject!
