Rating: Summary: An ungodly excuse for sexism and male dominance! Review: Well, count me as another person who wish to clasify this book with no stars at all.I took my time to examine the book on Amazon's website and read the part about "From Convent to Coven". So now women who search for equality are inevitable linked to witchcraft, pagan and heretic stuff. Yeah, right. I had to admit it, it made me laugh a lot, a good comedy indeed. But allow me to completely differ to the book's content, because women opression and discrimination is not a funny thing, but a disgrace. The first error in humanity is to forget the simple fact that God created men and women the same in heart, mind and soul, even if we continue to be men and women different in body. The second error is to consider men superior to women. Both errors had costed pain, suffering and death to humanity for thousands of years. This book seems to accept both erronous concepts as the reality, according to the way Donna present the themes in her book. The book seems to be writen as an excuse for sexism and male dominance over woman. I don't understand the fuss against the fight for better conditions of life and equality between men and women in terms of rights and responsibilities. In this moments of history, one can find illogical to see a woman like Donna defending precisely the attitude that, in the past, could forbade her to even learn to read, just because she's a woman. She should remember that is exactly because thanks to those women she strongly critizes, today she can study, publish a book and express ther opinions freely. I was considering to buy just an used book to study it and then resell it, but unfortunately, I need a credit card for that. I will have to stick to a new one. But I'll buy it anyway, just to see what Donna exactly thinks about the more than a half of humanity in which she, curiously, belongs, and how to understand why women's liberation is so hated and unwanted by so many people.
Rating: Summary: A compendium of true stories surrounding feminism gone bad Review: What happens when women fighting for a voice in the Church turn away from the very things every Catholic holds to be true? Find out in this book! It may scandalize some people, but I'm afraid it's the truth. Donna Steichen has even said that radical feminists have tried to stop the circulation of this book but simply cannot because it's all documented! Steichen shows where radical feminism in the Church has taken us and it's not a pretty place. It truly is a collection of horror stories showing how things went awry. Recommended for anyone who wants to understand how things got to be so bad in women's religious communities and how true feminism in the Church was perverted.
