Review: I am thankfull to God for Mr. Reed and for his tremendous insight in Jehova's Witnesses beliefs and for sharing that with those who need it the most, those in the trenches. When I was first visited by a Jehovah's Witness I felt like I had been violated. They took away my God, Jesus, and everything I had put my faith in and told me that I was wrong. Before he left he said some very profound words that will probably stick with me the rest of my life. He told me not just to accept the words of other people with degrees as ultimate truth, but to search the Scriptures and pray that the God will guide me. I took the man's advice, and read and prayed and now I am more convinced than ever that the Jehovah's Witness cult is not the truth. Mr. Reed's book does not present his interpretation of Scripture, "The most sure word," but lets Scripture speack for itself. Malcom Muggeridge once said, "All news is old news happening to new people." In this case, as in the case with the Pharisees of Jesus time, the Jehovah's Witnesses deny the truth even when it so obvisously taught in Scripture. Pray for them, Love them, and reach them, "contending for the faith" Thank you Mr. Reed for your contribution in defense of orthodox-Christian Truths

Summary: Good resource but not the starting point
Review: I have read this with "How to Answer Jehovah's Witnesses" by Dr. Robert Morey and "How to Answer Jehovah's Witnesses verse by verse" by David A. Reed. If the previous Jehovah Witness had been dealing with a Christian who has studied the Trinity in depth he would have found that his arguments would not have worked trying to compare Moses and others in the Bible who where called "gods" in the sense that they where speaking in the name of God or had the power of life and death as the Judges in the Old Testament or in reference to false gods or angels speaking in behalf of God. There is never any time in the Bible that we are to put our total faith and refuge in any of the above mentioned and are forbidden to worship them but in Psalm 2:12 we are supposed to do this to the Son. In Isaiah 6:5 it said that Isaiah saw Jehovah (the 4 letter name of God YHWH is used in Isaiah 6:5)and it said in John 12:39-41 that Isaiah saw Jesus glory (it should aslo be noticed the angels where worshipping Jehovah in Isaiah 6:1-5. I could go on for about 38 pages and prove the point and refute all the verses they use but it would not change their mind because they believe the Watchtower is inspired by angelic direction as stated:

"The scroll was doubtless delivered to Ezekiel by the hand of one of the cherubs in the vision. This would indicate that Jehovah's witnesses today make their declaration of the good news of the Kingdom under angelic direction and support (Rev. 14:6, 7; Matt. 25:31, 32) And since no word or work of Jehovah can fall, for he is God Almighty, the nations will see the fulfillment of what these witnesses say as directed from heaven. Yes, the time must come shortly that the nations will have to know that really a "prophet" of Jehovah was among them." (Watchtower April 1, 1972 pg. 200)

First you must show the real gospel as defined by Paul in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 and this does not include Christ returning in 1914 as they assert. Then go to Galations chapter 1 and show what Paul said about any gospel preached other than what he had preached to them. Then use Dr. Morey's book How to Answer Jehovah's Witnesses and show the Watchtower to be a false prophet by their own predictions then and only then do you start discussing doctrine. If you think this is mean spirited then read the following statement from their own resource that says to do so:

"He had a "prophet" to warn them. This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are know as Jehovah's Christian witnesses. They are still proclaiming a warning a warning, and have been joined and assisted in their commissioned work by hundreds of thousands of persons who have listened to their message with belief. Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record. What does it show? "(Watchtower April 1,1972 pg. 197)

I own the above book and purchased others after reading Dr. Morey's book just to see if the information was honest. I will now only bring out these books after explaining the true gospel as explained in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 and contrast this to the false gospel of Christ returning in 1914 as the Jehovah Witnesses teach. This book will explain this to you on their belief concerning 1914.

So for the Jehovah's Witness that come to my door I am ready to discuss with you if your organization is from God or not. I will respect you and I do care that is why I do this and have trained others as well how to at my church. I thank you for challenging my beliefs to make me check them deeply. You have only made me a better Christian for it and I want to talk with you and many others Jehovah's Witnesses. If you change some of your arguments that is fine but the truth of the Word of God never changes no matter how it gets twisted.

Summary: False Reviews
Review: I thought I should inform people looking for contorversial literature on Jehovah's Witnesses that a reviewer who claims to be "A Reader" from America, or various cities or states, is really a JW. He or she claims to be have been investigating the Jehovah's Witness cult, then was given these books. Well, this person has put pretty much the same review for almost all controversial literature on JWs on this site, and many other online sites. This person has not read all these books.

Summary: Take it from a pro
Review: Jehovah's Witnesses are taught in their meetings on how to answer questions from people who dont't read the Bible which is a very high percentage. C'mon Reed, do you think you can teach an average Joe how to fool a witness at the door? Were you really a Witnees? It seems unlikely. You should know all this trinity thing if you were a Witness. Actually, you should recognize that no serious Christian of any denomination believes this pagan belief.

The only way to approach a Witness at a door is to cite from their own literature. In order to do that you must have read atleast half-a-century worth of it. Raymond Franz is the best at it and his book "Crisis of Conscience" is the best documented book.

The basic believes of the JW's are true: Only one true God, Jehovah, the ransom through Jesus Christ, NO TRINITY... The teachings that are wrong are the self-appointed only channel of God to humanity and limiting the children of God to only 144,000. These are the subjects to be challenged.

Well, "Crisis of Conscience" seems to appeal only to former believers in the Watchtower, but Reed's book will not be effective to answer to Witnesses from non-believers who rarely read the Bible anyway.

If you ask me, no book will be able to help answer to the message Jehovah's Witness proclaim at neignbor's doors unless that book addresses the fact that Christians should volutarily accept a Christian conduct out of their own will rather than an organization dictating them what should be a Christian conduct or not. Accepting an invisible Kingdom from Jesus, not a visible human organization, should be awe-inspiring to any true Christian in the JW organization.

A personal relationship with our Creator and our search for truth should give us satisfaction. Following the Watchtower or reading Reed's book only gives to division among "Christians". This is Satan's work: to divide people believing in Christ. And that goes to both sides.

Summary: Watchtower Society keeps JW's uneducated
Review: No, JW's aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer because they don't approve of higher education. Rather than attend college they are encouraged to "work for the kingdom hall". They will quickly tell anyone that there is no mention of Jesus dying on the Cross in the Bible because what they read is not the Bible it is just a book of twisted scripture. When you tell them this they will quickly say that it doesn't matter how He died, what He died on, the nails mean nothing etc. I ask one if it means nothing why did the false prophets that founded their society change it to a torture stake. They say that the Cross is a pagan symbol, followed by an explanation that is so ridiculous that I don't even care to repeat it.Bottomline is, these people are so brainwashed by the Watchtower Society that they'll believe anything that it hands to them. That's obvious because of all of the false prophecies that they've dished out in the past. Why would anyone want to belong to an organization that was founded on lies and false prophecies? That's what the Bible teaches us to beware of. The society wants them to remain dumb, that's the only way it can control them. Their teachings would be funny if it didn't harm so many people, even down to tearing down families, suicide and death. They won't even go to their own mother's funeral if she's not a witness and it's held in a church because they can't listen to the Word of God preached by a man of God. But we've got to love them and pray for them. The quickest way to get rid of them is to read a Scripture, Jesus is speaking: John 10:30 "I and My Father are one." Don't debate or discuss Scripture with them, it will really do no good, just let them remain the 'porch people' and shut the door. They are master's at evading the issue and lying so why be bothered. Another Scripture that they don't like to hear is Phil. 2:9-11 "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that EVERY TONGUE should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." So, they might as well just do it and also learn how to speak English and spell. The book is well worth reading, it certainly could have been edited a bit more but it's chocked full of information that people need to know. The one's who really need to read it are the JW's, oh I forgot, they aren't allowed to. JW's please come up out of Egypt, you're in bondage, John 8:36 "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."

Summary: Answering Jehovah's Witnesses: David Reed
Review: Regarding; Jehovah's Witnesses a destructive abusive cult.

The Watchtower is big money, being one of the top 40 New York City Corporations making nearly one billion dollars a year. That's just from one of their many corporations.

Unlike in the case of Christians who are persecuted in other lands for talking about Jesus Christ, Jehovah's Witnesses are largely persecuted for following the teachings begun during the second presidency of the Watchtower, when Joseph F. Rutherford took over in a corporate flap and began changing doctrines quickly in the Watchtower belief system. He claimed that angels directly conveyed "truth" to some of those in leadership. He coined the name "Jehovah's Witnesses" to make them stand out from being witnesses of Jesus, a typical evangelical __expression (and a Biblical one). Rutherford dumped holidays, birthdays and the 1874 date for the invisible return on Christ, and invented an "earthly class" of Witnesses, since only 144,000 can go to heaven in their teaching. The rest, meaning all 99.9% of Witnesses still alive, will live forever on a cleansed earth, under the rule of the Watchtower leaders in heaven, who will keep them in line by local elders known as "Princes."

If you have been "witnessed to" by Jehovah's Witnesses and you reject their message, you will likely die "shortly" at Armageddon with all the other non-Witnesses, since theirs is the only true religion, and (if they can live up to all the rules) they are the only ones to inhabit this "new earth." If you believe Witnesses seem rigid now, any non-conformist during the future "cleansed earth" will be directly destroyed by Jehovah. Even now a Witness will be disfellowshipped for any one of many gaffs, such as smoking, taking a blood transfusion, or even voting. To even vocally question the teachings of the Watchtower will result in complete cutting off, with family and friends usually being forbidden to talk to them. The Watchtower is a truly Orwellian world, in a time when Orwellian societies are nearly obsolete.

Summary: Really Effective Tool
Review: Stay away from the gangrene of apostates. If you must test your faith, do so by the scriptures (2 Cor.13:5, 1 Thess. 5:21, 1 John 4:1), and not by the sayings of rebellious defectors who now spend all or much of their time defaming the Watchtower Society for the cause of their error and wrongdoing. Garbage in, garbage out; nothing can come from the vile words of this sort-Gr."apostasia", a falling away. You will know them by their works.

Summary: Excellent for laymen
Review: This is an excellent book for educating laymen. Not as thorough as an expert in J.W.s would like. But entirely accurate. Other books have covered the published false prophecies and changing doctrine of the Watchtower more thoroughly.

The point that J.W.'s continually try to make regarding the name of God is a smoke screen. Studied Christians know that the word "god" ('el' of which 'elohim' is an extended form in plural exaltation) does not only apply to YHWH. However, Jehovah is the Greek based version, hence the witnesses are not using the divinely given form of God's name either. And since the name was not pronounced by Jews for centuries, we do not know what the actual vowel sounds were. 'Yahweh' barrows vowel sounds another Hebrew word used to discribe God.

Now the case J.W.'s are making against Christ as God is tougher to deal with since the New Testament as passed down to us is in common Greek, hence the Hebrew names are not directly used. However, we can glean their application to Jesus from the prophetic texts applied to him by the Apostles. For instance, in Heb. 1:8-9 God the Father (even J.W.'s assume this to be 'God Almighty') calls Jesus 'God.' And the Old Testament verse is indeed using an 'El' form. However, Heb. 1:10 applies the word 'Lord' to Jesus in reference to creation using a paraphrase Ps. 102:25. But we know from Isaiah 40 that the Lord (YHWH) did the work of creation "by Myself...all alone" (v.24, etc.). And the things said of God in Ps. 102 are applied to YHWH in Is 51, which is in turn applied to Christ Jesus in Heb. 1:11-12. It is only right, then, that the God who will not give His glory to another command angels to also worship the Son (Heb. 1:6). For God is Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; three in one.

There are many more examples. But it is enough to say that J.W.'s have been deceived (much like the Mormons, Muslims, etc., etc.). Jesus is not Michael the Archangel (as Heb. 1:5 makes clear, no angel has ever had it said of him "Thou art My Son, today I have begotten thee). He did bodily rise from the dead.

Get this book. But love them. Don't just truth them.
