Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a veritable goldmine of useful information
Review: This introductory volume to the Guides to New Testament Exegesis series is a veritable goldmine of useful information on the different genres of interpretation. Short overviews of each genre by well known scholars give you a good grasp of the importance of that particular area of interpretation and the pitfalls and fallacies that present themselves with inaccurate exegesis. While a basic knowledge of Greek is suggested, it is well worth the price of the book for the excellent overview of New Testament background; NT word analysis; sociology and NT exegesis; NT theological analysis; and the function of the OT in the NT - none of which require any Greek. Gets right to the point with meaty information - no throw-away stuff here.
