Summary: The real truth is we are already free!
Review: Barton states that "it is time to stand for what you believe and never look back". This is true, but we need to be standing for God and His Word, not for self. This book is not very Biblical, but it is spiritual, almost "mystical".

Barton asks the readers to meditate on the words of her book and allow God to speak through her book. God has already spoken in His own Book, the Bible, we should meditate on it.

It is true that many in the "church" today have the wrong view of the value of women in the church. Women are totally gifted by God as much as any man. However,I believe as a christian woman, that I do not need to fight for my "rights" as a woman, God has already won that battle. We may face "injustices" here on earth but we have a home in heaven. Leave the fighting to God. We don't need to build our "self-esteem" or anyone else's, we need to look to God for our true value and leave the rest to Him. We need to "be still and know God", but "be still" can also mean "cease striving", stop trying to do it on your own, you don't need a cause for which to fight.

Barton attempts to support her views from scripture, however I found many of her interpretations to be inaccurate. She has had to twist scripture and take verses out of context to get it to say what she wants it to say.

Barton is right, we do need to work hard to discover what God is saying to us through His Word, and we do need to be careful not to interpret it just to suit what we want to believe. But,God is not an ogre: He is not sitting up in heaven looking for ways to oppress women. He loves us and has a plan for us that will lead to total fulfillment as a woman, why not trust Him to figth our battles for us instead of trying to do it ourselves.

Barton sounds like someone who wants to be loved and accepted for who she truly is, but instead of finding that acceptance from God, she is fighting to get it on her own, how sad! I think she needs to learn to enjoy being a woman, that will truly free her!

I certainly agree with her that many in the church have a wrong view of women. I certainly agree that the real truth about women needs to be taught. The Bible is not oppressive to women and many throughout the years have said that it is. This is wrong. This is not of God, but of the enemy, satan. Satan wants to divide us any way he can. He has been able to do this in the past by gettting many to think that God's curse on women was subjection to their husbands. This is not true. The result of sin was and still is death. Sin has destroyed the husband wife relationship, this is never ordained by God. God wants a husband to love his wife and He wants a wife to loving submit. The rulers-slave mentality is of the devil, not from God!
