Summary: A Real Jewel You Can Treasure!
Review:

Let's face it most women have issues that often stem from a lack of self-esteem. In her first book, Priscilla Evans Shirer, does a wonderful job of reminding women they are "precious jewels" in the eyes of God. She shares stories of well-known Christian women as well as her own personal experiences. Priscilla's personal stories really touch you. While she is the daughter of noted author and speaker, Dr. Tony Evans, she lets the reader know she has a style of her own and she too has been where they have been.

There is no psychology mumbo-jumbo - just straight talk! At the end of each chapter, Priscilla provides questions to consider and a prayer that addresses the subject matter of that particular chapter. This is a must-read for women of all ages, whether married or single.

Summary: A Jewel in His Crown
Review: I am at an age to have the privilege of mentoring many young women. Almost every woman I've met has dealt with low self image (very few exceptions). Shirer's book is THE BOOK I recommend. Priscilla speaks to ALL women, not to only a select group. This book challenges women to see themselves as their heavenly Father sees them. The book offers insight, hope, challenge, and makes one rethink the lie believed about SELF. If I had the power, I'd place "A Jewel in His Crown" into the hands of every woman. It's THAT life changing!

Summary: Becoming a Jewel in His Crown is Worth the Read
Review: I am reading this book and have loved every chapter thus far. I love self-help books, but this is the first one that I've ever come close to finishing. You know how you start a book with good intentions, but you lose interest. Sometimes it's your fault, other times, it's the author's. This book is very different. I believe that every spiritual woman, Christian or not, can get something very valuable from this book. Priscilla gives it to us like it is when she talks about self-esteem, submission, and refining ourselves as precious jewels of God. I would recommend this book for any woman who wants to know what a Godly woman should be, wants a husband, has had heartache in her life, wants to find true self-esteem and balance in her life. I have been blessed by this book. I will change the review once I finish reading the book...stay tuned. I have about 30 pages to go.

i wrote the above review on 5 oct 01, it is now 30 oct 01. i have finished the book and all i have to say is BLESSED! i thank God for reading this book. it really contains valuable insights for both Christian and non-Christian women. Don't keep this book to yourself, give it to a friend so you can share the spiritual reflections and prayers of dedications together in fellowship.

Summary: My Mother Tried To Steal This Book From Me!!!!!
Review: I came across this book at the Christian bookstore, and I thought it looked interesting, so I bought it. Boy, am I glad that I bought it. Priscilla's Holy Spirit-drenched book is filled with godly wisdom and I can honestly say that this book changed my walk with the Lord. I think that too often women let themselves be brought down by Satan's lies and then actually start to believe them. This book is a reminder that we are not to believe Satan's lies that we are worthless but that we are royalty because we are the daughters of the King of the Universe. It is time for us to stop acting like cubic zirconium and act like the rare and precious jewels that the Lord wants to make of us, if we would only let Him. This is the real deal here, Ladies. Go immediately and buy a copy for yourself and every woman that you know. You will be extremely blessed by this book. I know I was...

Summary: Please, read this...it is well worth it!
Review: It is amazing to find a young woman who has as much wisdom as Priscilla Shirer. This book truly is an inspiration to me. Many times we get so caught up in the day to day challenges, and to know that someone else understands is a true comfort. Thank you Priscilla for your transparency. You will be blessed!

Summary: You are a sparkle in His eye.......
Review: Ladies...we joke about it and say little remarks in passing, but we are very seldom truthful about it.....our self-esteem. Priscilla Evens Shirer takes a candid look about what we have been told we are and who we really are in the sight of God. This is a book for real woman with real issues. Priscilla Evens Shirer makes the Bible come to live as she goes through practical applications of Biblical stories. The references sent me running to my Bible to go deeper into the word. Her passion for seeing God women know who they are in the sight of God can be seen in every page. She bravely exposes her own heartache in order to teach us not to settle for anything less than God's best.

I will never be the same after reading this book. My future friends, husband and children are going to have a better Karen because of this deposit of wisdom that has been placed in my Spirit. I suggest you get a journal and write to your heart cries. You will be amazed how much it will show you about yourself. Don't rush. Take your time to see your own sparkles (and rejoice in them) and evaluate where the Master Jeweler needs to buff out the impurities.

Summary: Value yourself as God does
Review: Priscilla has written an inspiring book. Although any woman can benefit from reading this book, I thought it would be more helpful for single women. It is an inspirational book for building one's self esteem and realizing that as a woman you are valued by God and you should value yourself as highly as God does. Then you would not accept circumstances in your life that are less that what you deserve. I sent this book as a gift to two young single women.

Summary: Perfect for All Women - A Must Read
Review: Reviewed by Dian Moore

A JEWEL IN HIS CROWN is a delightful study into a woman's life and her place in the royal court of God. Both the book and workbook provide an in-depth exploration of issues relevant to a woman's life at all stages and her relationships with all people.

Shirer points out that women are Royalty, and they need to look for their place in God's Court. As daughters of the King, women should put on their own crown and at once take upon the qualities of one in a royal court.

It is vital for women to claim their inheritance. If they don't' they block God's purpose for their life and insult Him by trying to be someone they are not.

Though the book or workbook can easily be used separately, together they provide a more complete tool.

The book(s) are filled with topics, which encourage women to be women, to glory in their likeness to God, and to embrace the fact they were specially fashioned by Him.

The book version includes in each chapter, a study, a prayer and a list of things to consider.

The Journal is unique. Chapter by chapter, it accompanies A JEWEL IN HIS CROWN perfectly. Questions, quotes and scriptures are designed to bring a woman's gem-like qualities to the surface, where they belong.

Shirer relates her own difficulties in relationships and then later, candidly shares the important lessons she learned from overcoming the trials.

Both books are rich with tools to bring all women into the glory of their womanhood.

Audience: A JEWELL IN HIS CROWN, the book and journal, is suitable for teens and young adult women. Older women will benefit as well, as the knowledge extracted from these books will teach women about their value as a woman, and prepare their spirits, mind and bodies for the man God has chosen for them. By doing so, and applying the principles in the book and journal, unmarried women can then enter into a married union with the fullness of grace God has provided, with the man God has selected to be their groom.

Either book, or both as a set, would be an appropriate gift to a young woman in her teens and can aid all women in their journey as God's woman.

Married and older women as well will enjoy the set and be able to deepen their understanding of their place in God's Kingdom, their place on the earth, and their place in other people's lives.

Author Priscilla Shirer holds a master's degree in biblical studies from Dallas Theological Seminary and lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband and son. She is also an inspirational speaker, Bible teacher and in full-time ministry to women around the world. She desires women to come to a full understanding of who they are in Christ by hearing the uncompromising truth of Scripture.
