Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Amazing book! Both edgy and smooth, it's a surprising read.
Review: I typically die of boredom when reading many Biblically based novels and stories. I probably shouldn't, but I think most people who've heard the same story over and over start to find it dull. This book was a startling change!

One of the great surprises of my reading life, Joshua was an amazing read that never failed to be exciting, dangerous, awe-inspiring, and even romantic. It turned what to many has become a boring set of historical events into a thrilling ride. It's tense, well written, and won't let go.

If I could afford to, I'd buy this book in bulk and give it to everyone I know for Christmas. It's that good.

I heartily recommend both Joshua and, for a far longer read, Ellen Gunderson Traylor's "John, Son of Thunder." I have not yet finished the latter, but it is thus far rugged, yet beautiful and intensely personal.
