Rating: Summary: A stimulating non-technical commentary on Galatians Review: Timothy George is a gifted man and this commentary is very well written. George's arguments for the South Galatia theory are convincing (based as they are on Bruce's previous work). The exegesis is lucid and carefully presented. Dr. George defends the traditional reformation perspective of Galatians and justification by faith, arguing against certain aspects of the "New Perspective on Paul." However, it is obvious that he has wisely adopted *some* aspects of the "New Perspective" (eg., see his exegesis of 1:13-14). This is a very stimulating piece of work. I recommend using it along with the work of Richard Hays (NIB), Richard Longenecker (WBC), Ben Witherington (Socio-Rhetorical), and James D.G. Dunn (BNTC).
