Rating: Summary: To believe, or not to believe... An eternal question! Review: A beloved mentor once told me, "You've got to believe, on the authority of God's Word, that He can overcome any situation. And you have to believe that the blood of Jesus Christ can overcome this situation. Either you believe that, or you don't." Pretty point blank, huh? That's how this was to me. Absolutely chilling in some places, and I loved it!
This was my first work by Collins. We are taken through a complete mind game. You join Chelsea Adams, and her visions. She claims they are from God, and they've been proven helpful in the past. But now what? What about the man her husband wants as vice president for his company, Gavil Harrison? Is he a killer? From one encounter in a restaurant, it seems very likely, to her anyway, but she isn't certain!
But then she takes this to the police. Bad enough that her husband, Paul, isn't a believer, but the investigating officer, Dan Reiger is! Yet, his partner, Pat Turnbow is not. The vision even leads her to the scene of the crime! The investigation leads to an arrest, goes to trial! The town of Haverlon, California has never seen something such as this. So, the question is, will all be well once the gavel is slammed down?
Put Brandilyn Collins right up there with Ted Dekker! But give God the glory. There is one thing I know for certain about this. No wait, two things. The first thing is, I'll be reading more of Brandilyn Collins in the future. The second is to every person who has read and will read this. Either you believe it, or you don't Simple as that. Read and discern carefully!
Rating: Summary: Edge of your seat writing....... Review: Author Brandilyn Collins puts together a story that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat! Follow Chelsea Adams as a new Christian and trying to handle the 'gift' that God has given her. The plot of a murder and the vision Chelsea has of it makes for a great twists and turns in this book. You won't be able to stop reading until the last page is turned!!! Look for the release of the sequel,'Dread Champion' in the fall of 2002.
Rating: Summary: Powerful psychic suspense in an inspirational setting Review: Brandilyn Collins skillfully weaves a fast-paced story of psychic visions with engaging characters and interesting plot twists that keep the reader guessing until the end. A remarkable book that effective combines page-turner suspense with Christian context. Heroine Chelsea Adams, a new Christian, relives the brutal attack of a stalker in a grisly vision and identifies the murderer as her husband's soon-to-be business associate. From that point, her God-given visions fill Chelsea's world with uncertainty and danger. Her husband Paul, who barely accepts her newfound faith anyway, challenges the accuracy of her vision, but cannot deny the threat unleashed upon his wife and family. The Bay Area law enforcement officers, with their own crises of belief, have difficulty producing the necessary proof and struggle to protect Chelsea and her family from the madman determined to end to her visions forever. Collins has created multi-dimensional characters that add depth and poignancy to her plot. While ratcheting up the tension, she is still able to portray their spiritual struggles in an unobtrusive, believable way. A great read that I guarantee will keep you engaged to the great climatic ending.
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: From the moment I read the first page, this book had me hooked. True-to-life characters in a roller-coaster ride of suspense, I couldn't put it down! I just can't wait to read the follow up! Thanks, Ms. Collins, for such an entertaining read!
Rating: Summary: Eye Opening Book Review: I participated recently in a discussion about Christian fiction. There was a criticism, comparing it to milksop, too sweet and without substance. Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, may I direct your attention to a piece of Christian fiction that is nowhere near milksop, definitely scary, and full of substance? Eyes of Elisha is full-fledged suspense at its best, yet doesn't back away from being centered in Christian principals and reality. The words not only flow, they take on an artistry, captivating and enticing the reader to keep going. I read until 3:30 in the morning, unable to put the book down. Well crafted, the plot packs a wallop, exploding with believable characters and intense excitement. Ms. Collins, who has earned her status among the top Christian suspense authors of our time, gives fair warning with her motto - "Don't forget to breathe..." If you haven't been a fan of Christian fiction before, or are under the assumption that it holds nothing to interest or tantalize, I suggest you check out Eyes of Elisha. You can take it from me, it will be an eye-opening experience.
Rating: Summary: A chilling winner!!! Review: This book was so suspenseful! The story just grabbed me from the beginning and I barely put the book down for two days. If you want to read a gripping, intriguing story then this book is for you! I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: A real page-turner!! Review: This suspense novel by Brandilyn Collins will keep you on the edge of your seat til the very last page! I had already read her newest novel, "Brink of Death" and loved it. I love Christian fiction that incorporates mystery, suspense, and medical themes. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel to "Eyes of Elisha", which is "Dread Champion", which also features Chelsea Adams.
Check out my other reviews to find other Christian novels that I have enjoyed! Happy reading!
Rating: Summary: romancejunkie Review: This was an awesome book! It is the first I have read from this author, and I have to say it was excellent. The main character's visions were intriguing and gave the reader a lot to think about. I like the realism of the characters and the fact that she doesn't "sugar coat" the reality of violence. I would recommend this book and it's sequel Dread Champion.
Rating: Summary: Warning! This book will cause loss of sleep Review: What would you do if God gave you a vision of a murder no one yet knew of?
That was the dilemma Chelsea Adams faced.
While dining with her husband, Paul, and his potential new employee, Chelsea suddenly sinks into a vision of an unspeakable murder. When she finally emerges, one face stands out. That of Gavil Harrison, the man her husband intends to employ.
Chelsea struggles with what to do before finally going to the police. She tells them of her vision ... then leads them to the body.
The race begins. Will the police get enough evidence to convict the murderer, or will he get to Chelsea first?
Enter the lives of Chelsea and Paul Adams, Dan Rieger, Pat Turnbow, Marian Baker and Gavil Harrison. No life is left unmarked by Chelsea's chilling vision. Chelsea must learn to lean on God and trust Him completely; Paul has to learn to accept Chelsea's new faith; Dan struggles with his own faith as he hunts down the murderer; Pat is determined to protect the innocent, all the while coming to terms with the faith of those around him; and Gavil ... Well, read the book and find out for yourself!
Brandilyn Collins spins a wonderful, non-stop tale. I found this book very hard to put down. I was dragged along at break neck speed, determined to get to the finish and see where God would lead these characters.
This was the first Brandilyn Collins book I have read, but it certainly won't be the last!
