Rating: Summary: PRAISE IS WHERE GOD LIVES!--Learn why & how Review: On a whim, I decided I would query Amazon for _The Hallelujah Factor_. My hardcover copy of this book, given to me by my late in-laws many years ago (before my husband and I were married), lives in the magazine rack at my bedside along with my Bible, journals, study guides, and current reading materials. I am thrilled to see that it is back in print! I had been recommending it to people in my journaling and "life-support" classes, and they'd been having a little trouble finding the out-of-print edition. I can't wait to get my new copy and start recommending it to students (along with my two other favorites, _As A Man Thinketh_ and _How to Discover Your Mission In Life_.) Let me explain my enthusiasm for the book. The author of this book spoke at Southcliff Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, to my in-laws' congregation. They bought copies of the book for each of their children (and me!) I'd often wondered in the past why PRAISE would be significant at all to GOD, or why it would be important or noticed at all when we praise Him; after all, He must be above needing validation or whatever it is that we as humans recieve when we are praised, and I did not know where to look in Scripture to find out what kind of benefits would accrue when you joined the angels and the Heavenly host in praising the Lord God of Hosts . . . after reading this book, I came to understand that PRAISE is where God lives, and that if you join into the praise, it is NOT to "feed his ego" or "build him up" or anything like that, but what it WILL do is draw you closer in to God and where He is to more fully experience His holiness and grace. I cannot explain it as I should, so I refer you to this book! The various ways in which we might address God during praise are also discussed, as for example "Jehovah-Jireh," the Great Physician, and "Jehovah-Shammah," God with us. While praying during serious illnesses, I've experienced great comfort after praising in the methods explained in this book. (I would describe it as "an angel sitting over my shoulder.") Well, even if you don't come to subscribe to our beliefs about praise, you will have gained insight and knowledge by reading this book. If I were Jane Austen, here I would sign off with, "God bless you, gentle readers!" --Shalanna Collins (author of _Dulcinea_, a somewhat "Harry Potter-esque" fantasy novel coming in March 2001)
Rating: Summary: This is a great text on Praise and Worship. Review: This is written as a basic text on Praise and Worship with activities at the end of each chapter to let the reader practice the Praise topic. This book changed my life and the study of it has lead me to a greater relationship with God.
