Summary: Successfully enlightens reader of persecution today
Review: As illustrated in the first century Church, persecution has the opposite desired effect; instead of crushing the Church from existence, it merely causes it to spread and grow. Ms. Flinchbaugh quite successfully enlightens the reader to the present, ongoing persecution of the Church in China and its resulting growth.

Even though her novel is a little weak in character development and much of the dialogue seems a bit contrived, it is rich in truth. I learned a lot about communist oppression of the Chinese people and the persecution of the Christian Church in that country. She brings to light the horrid discrimination against women in China and the callous and cruel treatment of orphaned children.

The main character, 19-year-old Kwan Mei Lin, shows us how God uses "all things together for good" no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, if we stand firm in our faith. She learns that God's plan far surpasses what she can achieve relying on her own human wisdom. As she follows His leading and lays down her own dreams and aspirations, God uses her in miraculous ways, bringing many into the Kingdom.

Summary: Excellent read!!
Review: Clearly exposes the reality of suffering in China while portraying the peace and joy that God provides through it all. One of the best Christian novels I've read! You won't be disappointed with this one.

Summary: A masterpiece of faith
Review: I am a slow reader and I usually don't have time to read. I finished this book through a busy schedule in just 3 days because it was too exciting to put down. It is an inspiring, convicting, and truly well written book I plan on reading again!

Summary: A masterpiece of faith
Review: I have read this book twice. I was fasinated by Mei Lin and her determanation to withstand such pain and torcher for her Lord Jesus. After and while you are reading this book I guarantee that you will have a surge to save the world.
It did, honestly, changed my life. It is fully inspiring.
The auther, C.Hope Flinchbuagh, actually lives in my aria and I recently went to a discussion meeting about her book and she was present. It was a wonderful time and she is an INCREDABLE woman. I was able to meet her in person and get to know her.
I would recommend this book to ANYONE and EVERYONE; Christians and non-Christians alike. This is not only a testimony of true faith, it is also a look at present China and the pursecuted church today.
I believe a sequal is due sometime in the future.
I would also highly reccommend "Bruchko" by Bruce Olson and "Jesus Freaks" one and two by DCTalk and The Voice of the Martyres.

Summary: ...first book I've read that made me want to DO SOMETHING...
Review: I'm a fifteen year old from New Jersey who loves to read. I picked up Daughter of China because it looked interesting. After I read it, I discovered it was beyond interesting. My heart was changed into one for compassion and love for the persecuted in China. I prayed about how I could help and in a few days, I discovered a notice in Christianity Today magazine that the organization World Help was committing to providing one million bibles for China. I have been to their website ... and have sent for the free information. I am so eager to help and it is all because of the impact this book had.

Summary: Excellent and Thought Provoking!
Review: The story is so easy to get into: in the beginning, we go along with Mei Lin and her father to a house-church meeting. The way it's written had me holding my breath as they crawled or snuck along in the dark, listening for sounds of the Communist authorities who, if they could catch the believers in worship or with a Bible would accuse them of a crime against China and would proceed to beat them and possibly imprison them if the beatings didn't kill them first. Plenty of examples of the brutality against Christians are found in this story, and are realistically told so that the characters' suffering will break your heart. Mei Lin doesn't have an easy road ahead of her, but the suffering she goes through benefits others and it's interesting to see how God provides at the worst of times for her and other believers in the story. The network of believers who risk their lives to free Christians from prisons and protect (and befriend - the supporting characters in this story are strong and exactly that: supportive) them is as important as the pastors and openly practicing Christians; it's neat to see how God uses them all together to accomplish a goal of bringing others to Him and welcoming them into His family.

Summary: Three Stars - Are you kidding me? This is a 5-star book
Review: The teens in my Discipleship class sat intrigued as I read a chapter from Daughter of China. It opened their eyes to a world outside their own. It birthed the desire for one teen to start a group in her public high school to support persecuted Christians through prayer and action. It drew me in from the first paragraph and didn't let me go until the final word. This is a great book. As an author, as a speaker to teens, and as someone who simply loves to read, I had to give a shout out that this is a 5-star book.
