Rating: Summary: Never too old to Learn. Review: I never thought the Bible was meant to be difficult to understand. Through my childhood years, I was taught to believe the words from the Bible as the Truth, the Light, and the Way, though I never really understood what I was reading. I just knew how much God was important in my life, so I kept on reading. Then one year my dear friends gave me this Bible as a gift and signed it, "Because we love you so much". They saw me struggling, eager to learn, questions seeking answers. We had a tragedy in our family that year, and my faith was slipping. I found myself drastically searching for help through the Bible. Any words of comfort, please God help me find the words in your Book. Through the love of my dear friends, who cared so much to present me with this gift, I soon was experiencing the enjoyment of what the Bible had to offer. The pain I was tormented by soon was lifted and left with comfort that I was not alone, no, never alone. The bible should never be a task and no one should ever feel overwhelmed trying to learn. Thanks to this particular Bible, I have enjoyed every lesson given during service, small groups and personal devotions. Each time I have opened my Bible during service, someone sitting next to me is following the passage such as I. Afterwords, the question is always asked, where did you get this amazing Bible? It is so easy to understand! If you don't understand the message in one version you are able to take a look at three other versions immediately. I no longer feel overwhelmed. You couldn't ask for a better gift. Thank you Glen and Amy for loving me so much.

Rating: Summary: If you don't understand one, try another Review: This book has been in my library since 1986. It's not what I read every day but is a useful resource when I have questions or attend bible study groups. I purchased my copy when a friend happened to loan me hers and I thought it was wonderful. This evening, I am loaning it to an 8-year old young lady who is reading the bible and could not believe that there could be four translations in one book! I'll be interested to see her pick it up as she is a tiny little girl. I think we all have our favorite translations but I do think it is very healthy to read other ways of approaching the bible. I highly recommend this book -- especially as a gift (you can always borrow it back for a while).
