Review: The Roman's Debate, edited by Karl Donfried, is collection of papers by respected scholars on Paul's letter to the Romans. This covers much of the major studies up to 1991. The papers deal with various ways Roman's has been approached; as Paul's last will and testament, the study of rhetoric, the Jewish and Roman Christian audience, form criticism, historical and sociological settings, structure and theology. The book has a great bibliography and index. Much of this is still fresh, even after 10 years. I recommend it for the serious Pauline student.
