Summary: Whatever Tomorow Brings
Review: Excellent book. I could not wait to read the other books in the series. Keep them coming.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: I loved it! It took me a while to get through this book, simply because I am not one that can sit down and read. Once I got into it I couldn't put it down. I read the other 3 books in the series in a weeks time. I would recomened this series to anyone. I am looking for another one of Lori Wicks books to start reading hopeing that I will feel the same about it that I do about the California Series.

Summary: Mediocre read
Review: I realize that Christian writing has to be limited in many aspects. It should be clean, edifying, and glorify God. That doesn't mean, however that it should be mediocre and predictable. Wick's characters are flatly two-dimensional. Almost everybody in the book is perfect-nauseatingly so. The heroine, Katie, is beautiful, tall, curvy, good to children, smart, adored by everybody, and should have cartoon Disney animals following her around and singing to her throughout the story. I wonder-did she ever go to the bathroom or have bad breath? Katie's siblings and love interest are also all good looking, and for the most part perfect as well. Riggs of course, is tall, handsome, funny, and a succesful business man. It is hard for the reader to really get involved with these unrealistic people; not that it matters,it's fairly obvious how the story is going to turn out.
Another stomach-turning aspect of this book is the fact that everybody cries or gets teary eyed over everything. Practically all one has to do is drop a dish towel, and it's time to gather together to weep for a few minutes. Well placed emotion can add to a story, but not if it's every few pages.
Structurally there are also some akward and poorly phrased sentences. Editing was a little weak.
One good thing about this book is that Wick isn't shy about sharing her faith and talking about Jesus, and that is done in a pretty natural way.
It can be a challenge to find a book that is devoid of violence, cursing, and sex. This book does fit that criteria. It is also pretty devoid of substance.

Summary: How does she do it?
Review: In this book a missionary family travels from Hawaii to San Francisco and even though this trip is planned as a holiday they all sense that they won't return. After their arrival in San Francisco the mother dies and the father returns to Hawaii, only to get things setteled. The three children, Kaitlin, Sean and Marcail are supposed to stay with their aunt. But then cousin Percy appears. He falls in love with Kaitlin and as she keeps on ignoring him unwillingly he tries to force a kiss from her. Kaitlin who never had problems like this with men before blames herself for what had happened. She doesn't want to cause any more problems and so she decides to move away with her sibblings. They move to Santa Rosa where Kaitlin is able to work as a schoolteacher and where Marshall Riggs falls in love with her. But knowing about the episode with Percy he sees that he has to give Kaitlin time if he wants his love to be returned.

The journey to San Francisco, the death of the mother and the episode with Percy, all these things happen at the beginning of the story. So in the main part basically nothing happens. Kaitlin and Riggs discover their feelings for each other, Sean has problems with growing up and Marcail misses her father. Well, that's the whole story. And still, I promise you, you'll stay glued to this book. I don't know how Lori Wick does this but somehow you'll just fall in love with the characters so that they become like good friends every time you open the book and then you don't want to close it anymore. When I read the last page I was happy but also disapointed to somehow loose these new friends. I am now really looking forward to read the second part of the Californians. I recommend this book to everyone who likes to read good, romantic love stories.

Summary: Disgusting at Times
Review: OK, I like reading a nice light Lori Wick book from time to time, just like everyone else. Some are really cute... but others, like this one, are absolutely sickening. Everything about this book was wrong. First, it was obviously edited badly because it doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that there were many, many missed commas in obvious places. Also, this book seems a little contrived-like, haven't we read the "girl goes out West and meets perfect man" a few times before in a Lori Wick book? Some realistic characters that we can all relate to would be nice, too. I mean, unlike Kaitlin, I am not always perfectly sweet, demure, calm and composed-and it seemed like everyone else in this book was just a great person also (a.k.a. Rigg). Frankly, it made me want to GAG most of the time. It got really boring to hear more of each characters' perfect thoughts. To sum it up...a very poorly written, contrived book with perfectly "puppet-like" characters and bad editing. Can't Lori do better than this?????

Summary: 1st in Series Hits it OFF!!!
Review: The Californians series starts out with a great story of Kaitlin and her desire to be the strong woman that her life's circumstances has demanded she be. With several tragic occurrences, she is thrust into the role as the head of her family. Throughout the many decisions she makes for her 2 siblings, she finds time to fall in love and nurture a sweet relationship with her future husband.

Yes, as another reviewer stated, the editing in this book was poor (LOTS OF TYPOS!), but the storyline keeps you reading and you'll not regret it!

Summary: A Wonderfully Romantic Story
Review: This is the first book I read by Lori Wick, and I couldn't put it down. Even after I finished it, I had to read it again. The editing isn't very good, but it's worth it! The book brings you into the relationship between Kaitlin and Rigg, and you feel as if you are actually there, watching as their feelings change. This book is excellent for the romantic, especially for someone who like historical or Christian fiction. Whatever Tomorrow Brings is a must-read.

Summary: Permanent Lori Wick fan thanks to this book
Review: This was the first book by Lori Wick that I ever read. It was so good that I read the whole series in less than a week. I now hold all of Lori Wick's books to the high standards that she set in this book and the other 3 in the Californians series. I was in the story, falling in love with the Donovans, the Taylors, and Riggs. It was wonderfully done and I will be forever grateful to my fried who let me borrow her copy because I am now a Lori Wick fan for life!
