Author Jan Coleman will take your hand and lead you into fresh hope. The writing is excellent, and you will be pulled into true experiences and personal discoveries---that can make all the difference. As I reader I experienced God's nearness and wisdom through these pages. Scriptures and gems of thought almost leaped off the pages. Now I want to read my Bible more. Women who are single, divorced, lonely, hurting will be especially blessed by this book. Yet it will speak to any woman at any time in her life. It makes a thoughtful gift.
Rating: Summary: A much needed, well written book Review: As one who has had a life full of locusts (both during and after times), I have to say Jan's book is a wonderful resource. She has an easy-to-read style that makes it fun to focus on these biblical principles that will get everyone through hard times. I love Jan's way of speaking to the reader and not down. Her own life story is woven in with other stories and, more importantly, with Bible truths. I especially liked the epilogue. These two pages bring everything together as an easily explained reference.Thank you, Jan, for your openness and the love of Christ you so generously shared with your readers. I will certainly tell others in our church and my ministry about After the Locusts.

Rating: Summary: Beyond Inspiration to Practical, Loving Help Review: Jan Coleman has cut to the core of our wounds with "After the Locusts:Restoring Ruined Dreams, Reclaiming Wasted Years". I anticipated using this book as a companion piece to daily Bible study over several weeks. Instead, I read it in 4 days, absorbing, underlining and taking notes before deciding to share it with a friend. Now, I need to buy several more copies for friends who are hurting in ways that "After the Locusts" helps. Jan reels us in with real life stories of women experiencing the kinds of hurts and tragedies that are familiar to us all. She reminds us that, with a focus on God's truth and love, we can discover wisdom in our ruined dreams for healthier, more joyful lives. To help us move through our pain and regrets, Jan provides story after story to prove that truly trusting God means believing that His purpose is greater than our loss. In spite of loss, trust God anyway. In spite of loss, love the Lord anyway. In spite of loss, praise His Majesty anyway. These are pieces of beauty that underscore the message of "After the Locusts". Jan reminds each of us that we are not alone in our sadness, our worry, or our grief. All of us have our sufferings. But God created each one of us lovingly and uniquely and desires that we come to him faithfully. And Jan Coleman gives us practical strategies for achieving just that. However, her strategies are grounded in the truths of Scripture. It is a joy to have the wisdom of "After the Locusts" on my heart. Between times of loaning it to friends, the book will be a valuable resource in my library.
Rating: Summary: Page-turner and work-stopper Review: Jan Coleman's AFTER THE LOCUSTS is a page-turner and a work-stopper. It only takes a peak to pull you in, hook you and then you can't get any more work done. Deadlines are forgotten. You have to keep turning the pages to see what the next story will be in this book of many stories. Each one brings hope and inspiration. A very uplifiting book!
Rating: Summary: a book of hope Review: Jan Coleman's book speaks to your heart, mind and soul! This is the first book in years that I've read A.L. (After Locusts) from cover to cover. Jan speaks to you as if you were a long-time friend sitting at her kitchen table, bringing tears to your eyes as well as a knowing smile to your lips. Sharing her own experiences as well as those of other women, she candidly recognizes that you are not alone in your struggles, and assures you that there IS light at the end of the tunnel as well as a rainbow after the storm. Reminding us of God's promise, "For I will restore to you the years the locust has eaten." Joel 2:25, she comforts you like the arms of a dear friend. This book ministered to me like no other!

Rating: Summary: If you've ridden the roller coaster called life, read this Review: Jan opens her heart and life and shares wisdom found through her own experiences in the light of faith. This book does not offer pat answers or advice, but rather causes the reader to rethink their life in the light of God's love. I have a dear friend going through a "locust" time, and immediately knew that this would be a helpful resource. It's like sitting across the table from a wise and witty friend whose not afraid to help you through the tough times with hope, laughter, and a tear or two. This is a must-read for anyone who has faced the locusts and is ready to take a step to healing.
