Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Helpful and Important Review: This book is enormously helpful. At first I sort of cringed and considered Mike Bickle to be hyper-analytical about the whole "prophecy thing." But after completing the book and coming to understand the extraordinary outpouring of the gift of prophecy at his church, I found his viewpoint and "hyper-analytical" approach to be a great gift and a crucial tool for keeping the proper focus (on the Creator) at his Kansas City church. What a blessing it is for others to have this very practical guidebook. For those who are "new" to the prophecy gift, I recommend Jack Deere's "Surprised by the Voice of God" for a more "passionate" picture. Then Bickle's book makes for a very nice and helpful "follow up" guide.

Review: This is a prophetic package when unfold reveals the heart of Mike Bickle who longs to see the powerhouse of the prophetic movement balance between sound teaching and action application. For someone who does not profess to be prophetic, Mike owes a lot of his experiences to the surrounding osmosis from his prophetic company. This book is basically an oasis of Mike's experience. The substance of the content is exceptionally rare as understanding the prophetic requires us to move beyond the corral of theology knowledge. It takes a good drill of application experiences to appreciate the positive effects and avoid the abuse of the prophetic. Through a host of honest trials and overt errors, the making of "Growing in the prophetic" is realized for our benefit. By reading this book, you will find out that when teachings steep to the taste of high flying individuals, prophetic ministry will turn volatile and can potentially burst into a host of damaging effects. Mike Bickle is here to firm up the prophetic application based on truthful and biblical teaching. One of the immediate requisition of the prophetic is the admission of strong kinship relationship and constant accountability. Such requirement is foundational and creates boundary of peace, joy and covering for those who operate in this calling. However when individuals choose to walk out of such privileged dimension, the light of God dims slowly, susceptibility to all kinds of weird and strange acts are bound to manifest and latch on them. You will discover moving into the prophetic is actually a maturation process which can be measured by different levels of gifting. I appreciated the way Mike punctuated each teaching with life examples. Paul Cain, Bob Jones and others powerful prophetic figures are included as additives to his examples because of their reputed ministries and global recognitions. I thank Mike for his honesty. It's people like him we can steer the prophetic ministry into great usage and reap powerful results that God intended it to be. I am sure Mike Bickle has more to say about the prophetic since this book was first released ...

We need to understand that God gives the gifts and that they need to be used for Him, but this book helps you to understand how to walk in the gifting that God has given you and allow the pastor to walk in his gifting, and to work together for God and His will.
