Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Basically sound, but ponderous, lay study guide Review: The Introduction For Students and Teachers suggests this 322-page, 52-chapter doctrinal guide should be completed in one year, but accomplishing this feat would require the teacher and student to approach the topical outlines in only the most superficial way.The author reasons mostly from a standard Evangelical Baptist doctrinal perspective, with some unexpected interjections of personal conviction and preference. The "fill in the blank" format does not lend itself very well to promoting class or group discussion. This is a basic, standard doctrinal study best suited for individuals and groups who want to be told what standard Evangelical/Baptist beliefs are. If you want an inductive study in this regard, or to grapple with the personal or societal implications of these beliefs, look elsewhere.
