Summary: Just started.
Review: Just started reading the book, and have completed the first three chapters. Lots of good principles and inspiring thought.
The author has laid out techniques for growing closer to God, and ways to follow God's plan through God's word.
These are sound principles, but my first thought was they may not work for everyone. I think that it merely depends on what type of lifestyle, and schedule you are following. Then I thought, well maybe, that's the problem with me. I tend to find excuses for making other people's suggestions work in my life. Maybe I need to pray and ask God's guidance on what would work for me in implementing God's plan for me. So I've been prayerful. The illustration of the eagle, and the suggestion on how we should try to be like the eagle is remarkable. But one thing we all know, and that is the eagle doesn't soar from birth. It grows and matures to this point of time, first time and early time. So I think it really depends on where you are on the Christian growth scale as to how well you will be able to follow the author's principles in your life. It may take some time to get to this level of maturity. More of a "how to" approach considering a variety of different lifestyles would help in prescribing different ways of managing our lives. I think the principles are sound, but I still don't know exactly how to put them in action based on the fact I'm someplace other than my home when "first" and "early" come.

Summary: Lots of practicals... but not much behind it
Review: On a positive note: This book has lots of challenges! In every chapter I found something else to work on in different areas of my life.

However, I feel that most of this book was a bunch of tips stuck together without much biblical reasoning to back it up. Some statements seemed very biased and there was no scripture to back it up or if there was scripture it was sometimes misquoted. I had hoped that this book would help to lift my spirits after being stressed for the last year or so, but I was not motivated to pursue God any more than I was before reading the book.

While reading this book I can sense the love that Elizabeth George has for people and for God, but I suggest trying another one of her books instead (Putting on a Gentle and Quiet Spirit was an excellent devotional!)

Summary: Life Management for Busy Women
Review: The first two chapters were good: It really is important to pray and to read the Bible. But after them the book turned into a guide book that could be renamed 'How To Become a Stepford Wife'. (For those who haven't seen the film: Stepford wives are PERFECT female robots who only live to serve their husbands) This book doesn't teach life management, it gives you exhaustion because it loads you with a hundred new tasks in addition to your previous ones.

Summary: Excellent personal or group study
Review: This is an excellant book on organizing your life God's way! I would highly recommend purchasing the study guide that goes along with it- you are missing out on half of the application/scripture and ideas if you don't! I look forward to seeing it as a Sunday School class or bible study in our church soon. It really prioritizes things and bases all on scripture- I did not find it biased at all- once again you really need the study guide to get the most out of it- it is filled with scripture and application and is all biblical- I highly recommend it and can't wait to do the next chapter each day!
