Summary: Lights, Camera Faith - Cycle B - Movie Lectionary
Review: I was looking for a book that would link Sacred Scripture to the movies that my students were watching on a weekly basis in class and at the movie theatre. This book has significantly assisted me in teaching as I have been able to use many of the strategies included. It gives the name of the movie and a brief synopsis of each movie; the most interesting portion is it gives a commentary of the actors that played their particular parts in the film - this was cute because each actor gave a comment of how they felt when the movie ended. A section called dialogue with the Gospel is also included for each movie - this gives a link between the movie and Sacred Scripture which is very helpful to assist the students in understanding the links between each. There are key scenes and themes depicted as well as thoughts for reflection and conversation for the classroom environment. Finally, it gives a small prayer that will assist the students to link the movie to Sacred Scripture. The book is extremely helpful to teachers especially those of us who work in the Catholic School environment. There is also the same book for Lectionary Cycle A and I am truly looking forward to the new selection for Lectionary Cycle C. I really loved the book and several of the teachers in my school (Middle School) are using the book as well this year.
