Rating: Summary: Buy it and save it for a bad day. Review: "In the Eye of the Storm" is a look at what Lucado calls the hardest day in Jesus' life. Like many of Lucado's books, the style is more light devotional than heavy theology. Combining Biblical passages with modern-day examples, Lucado demonstrates that Jesus experienced the gamut of human emotion and thus knows how we feel during our roughest times.I began reading the book on what had been an awful day for me, and I wound up reading the entire thing before the day ended. One story in particular, concerning a villager and his "wait and see" approach to life, has been a comfort to me ever since I read it. For anyone who needs a lift on a bad day, this book earns a hearty recommendation from me.

Rating: Summary: Easy to Relate to Review: I am glad to say that I am yet another Max Lucado fan and this was the first book of his that I read. Even at 16, I could easily relate to things that he talked about. Great book.

Rating: Summary: Life changing, motivating to get you through life's stuggles Review: I read this book recently after the death of a very close uncle. I was a dark time of my life, and Max Lucado helped me to realize that Christ faced such a day in his life. I have never read such simplistic chapters with such profound meaning. Since that time, I have given over 10 copies of this book away. Those poeople incluse various friends, co-workers, and family members who are going through difficult times such as a death, loss of job, or another one of life's many serious struggles.
Rating: Summary: Max Lucado has a real passion for relating to Jesus life Review: In The Eye Of The Storm by Max Lucado reads a lot like a devotional. With it's 28 chapters and conclusion, it makes a great devotional. The questions that are designated for each chapter are great for reflecting back on what you read and help to give an understanding of what it was like in a day in the life of Jesus. Max Lucado writes with such eloquence when writing of Jesus. His passion for relating Jesus life to the every day positive and negative situations that we are faced with, makes this book a read for the heart.
Rating: Summary: A Stormy Day... Review: Lucado chronicles a day in the life of Jesus. Not just any day however. The day he has chose is probably the second most stressful day that Jesus lived - only the day of his crucifixion would have been worse. Through his descriptions backed up by scripture, Lucado portrays Jesus as both human and the Son of God. A greater understanding of what Jesus did and why he did those things on the day that he fed the 5,000, turned away a crowd, was transfigured and walked on water. It was a busy day for Jesus and his disciples. By including many stories about common people, Lucado not only explains why Jesus did the things he did, but also why we do the things we do. He draws parallels between Jesus and us to aid our understanding of our actions and his. At the bottom of everything is that Jesus died for our sins. In the final chapters, Lucado addresses the question: If God loves us so much, why does he allow us to sin? The answer is simple: God gave us the choice to not sin and love him. In order for God to understand the pressures of living a human life with so many choices, he came to Earth in the form of his son Jesus Christ. Lucado also includes a series of study questions at the back of this book allowing it to be used as the curriculum for a study group or for personal reflection. The questions are well written and thought provoking. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in Jesus Christ. It will help them to understand just who the man was. Why 4 stars?: I have always enjoyed Lucado's writings and this book is no different. It is easy to read and always stays interesting. The stories are easy to relate to your own life. I have a few minor differences in our theologies, but nothing major, still that is the only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: How to seek calm in chaos. Review: Once again Max Lucado uses seemingly bland every day events - forgetting the alarm code, misplacing a contact lens, or just reaching out to family during long and strenuous trips - to communicate how God works in seemingly hopeless or hope draining situations. He divides the book into three different subjects of conversation (and reading Max Lucado feels very much like you are having a conversation with him) - Stress of Demands, Storms of Doubt, and Sting of Failure - offering up plenty of Scriptural backed up anecdotes on how to better understand God in action, even when he seems the most distant. Some examples touched on matters that are very important to me, others just seemed quaint and diverting, but little more. Fans of the preacher who writes or the writer that preaches will need no encouraging to give this book a look, others unfamiliar with him should give it a look as well. Recommended.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put It Down Review: This is the first Max Lucado book that I have read, and I can gladly say, the first of many more to come. I am 16, and normally don't have time to read much. I read this book in 2 days. I just could not put it down. I can't wait to start Just Like Jesus by Max Lucado that I just bought.
