Summary: Seeing Different
Review: Dannah has a wonderful, unique way of seeing sex in the way God intended it to be. In her own personal way through stories and Scripture, she lets you know how to keep purity a number 1 goal in your life. The best part of the book is that she is not legalistic in her view. She presents the special nature of sex and your purity and then lets you decide how you will respond. It is a very interactive book that you can only read if you have a jouranl right beside you. Whether you are just reaching puberty or you have been married for 40 years, you will learn about giving God first place!~ Dannah--you are awesome. Thanks.

Summary: Not just a "don't"- a "WHY"
Review: Every woman should read this book. Especially if you have daughters. No matter where you are in your life, as a young unmarried woman, a wife/mom, or even a grandmother Dannah's words will speak to your heart. I bought this book for my 16 yr old sister and found that even as a happily married wife and mom, I couldn't put it down. All my life I'd heard the "don't" message and although there are plenty of compelling reasons often mentioned (STD's unwanted pregnancy ect) the most compelling of all was missed. I found it in these pages. The most compelling reason to strive for purity is the reward. Purity is holding your hunger at bay, anticipating the incredible feast God has created in marital love. Purity is getting and staying focused on the goal- and like Dannah says it is a process. Why on earth would you choose cheetos when you have a banquet prepared and waiting! If you didn't know what the banquet was all about your hunger might get the best of you- For many of us it did. I cried when I finished this book thinking of how my life might have been different if only someone had given me this book when I was 16. But after the mourning came healing. Read this book. Give it to your daughters, your sisters, your granddaughters... God will bless you all.

Summary: BOOK GOOD ENOUGH FOR ADULTS
Review: I am reading the book and I am single 38 years old. I find the book extremely helpful. I think if you want to have a pure life for God as a single woman I think this book would be a good one. I am ready to give the book to several of my friends. I find that it is a decision about being pure. I plan to also share the book with my church website and suggest the teen and possibly the preteen girls of the church read this book and the boys read "Who Moved the Goal Post?". The chapters are just right for the teenagers. I plan to get the leadership book so that I can lead a Bible Study group on this. Thanks so much Dannah and Bob.

Summary: Author takes an important stand
Review: I am seeing this book used for crisis and prevention counseling, by those who truly care about women. And children. In a world of pornography and moral relativism, young people need all the support they can get. This author takes a position of moral clarity, but lets the reader know that through Christ everyone can make it from where they are.

Summary: "And the Bride Wore White"--a must-read for teen girls!
Review: I believe that the book "And the Bride Wore White" is one that would greatly benefit junior and senior high school girls today. Dannah speaks from the heart regarding relationships with "guys", your relationship with God, and how to keep them both where they belong. She clearly shares with her readers the benefits of staying both physically and emotionally pure. Her stories about her dating experiences are relevent today, giving girls solutions to problems that can be life changing when handled appropriately. It was a great book to read, easy to follow, and a blessing to me as a mom and former "teen girl".

Summary: A junior high youth leader's perspective
Review: I bought this book to "skim" for information that I could use for my junior high youth group girls. I couldn't stop reading! I stayed up late to read to the very last page.

The nonfiction text is full of true accounts from all kinds of girls and women and that kept the pace of the book very readable. While some nonfiction can get bogged down in details and over-explaining, Dannah Gresh is a gifted storyteller and uses beautiful language with a gentle, encouraging style.

I found this book extremely helpful for use in our church's junior high youth group. Since that time, the author has put together a leader's guide, but I made my own lesson plans based on the book and it was a wonderful experience!

I did find, though, that the junior high girls didn't read it as voraciously as I had. Their older, high school sisters loved it, so I'd say the reading level is 9th or 10th grade.

I highly recommend this book!

Summary: And the Bride wore white
Review: I have never been so inspired by a book such as this. I strongly advise all teenage girls to read this book,it could change their lives completely. Dannah is an inspiration to all who read this book and the honesty and sincerety of this story involving Dannah's teen years is heartwarming and a real tribute to her faith in God. Please do not miss the blessings you get from reading the trials and tribulations Dannah shares with her readers.I am very proud of my daughter-in-law and have learned a lot about her and love her even more.

Summary: Honest and Challenging
Review: I just finished reading "and the Bride Wore White" and i was really blown away. I have never read a book on this subject before that was so honest. Dannah Gresh did an excellent job putting herself out there and sharing her insights about what she learned on her journey. It's challenging, readable, and helps you to focus on what God has in store for you concerning sexual purity. It is a pretty radical difference from what our world tells us!

Summary: Practical advice that's already been given.
Review: I read Dannah's other book, "Secret Keeper: The Delicate Power of Modesty" first, and then finally tried this one. I tried this book after a hard wrought semester of college. I was feeling like an old spinster after my first semester (by the way I am 20) of college. I go to a college where most of the student body is LDS, and the handful of Christians I go to school with treat dating in a similar way--find someone, quick, get married right away, have kids before you get your bachelor's degree. So by the time I went home for the summer I was resenting myself, since I don't even have a boyfriend. I went to my Christian bookstore and found this book. I had heard rave reviews on it from some friends at my church who didn't go to the marriage crazed school I go to. I have always felt that it is okay to just be me and not to always have a guy, but I have always had friends like the ones at the college who felt that I should be paired off all the time, because otherwise I would be lonely. Boy do I wish those [people] I call friends and roommates would read this. This book was a REAL EYE OPENER. As you read it, the author encourages you to talk to God and write out things in a journal. For half of the questions posed in this book, I did just that. I found out that I had all sorts of problems, most of which had arised during my semester at college. This book is not a book on dating. It is a book about you, God, your future spouse, friends, and any mentors you may find. Next she shows you how to get better at things, including the problems you might have had earlier. Then she encourages you to put God in all your relationships and to avoid sticky situations. She relives her own bad experiences throughout the book. I liked the fact that she did not come out and bash dating like it was some horrible evil thing like Josh Harris does in his books. She also encourages you to talk your problems with God and friends and family. So this book is not just about dating. It is about your friendships--with God, friends and family, your dating life, and mariage. Gresh also explains the purpose of sex according to the Bible. Her book is the only one I have ever read that even talks about sex. Most other dating books hash it off as something horrible and evil. Basically, this is a very good book--you should read it!
