Review: Grace Jantzen presents a thorough, interesting background of Julian's place, time, and spirituality. It is especially valuable because, unlike many other contemporary books on the topic, it is not speculative - conclusions can be trusted because no half truths are justified. Excellent scholarly work. Only the political correctness in the introduction is a bit boring.
