Summary: The Personal Sized Masterpiece!
Review: An amazing and delightful edition. Stunning leather, very readable- words of our Lord in red. A copy you will want to keep forever. This one makes you want to take it with you everywhere!
I have heard some criticism of Cambridge tampering with the spellings and capitalization within the text of the King James in the 21st Century printings. I have many of their most collectable and also this exact edition. THERE IS NO SUCH TAMPERING. This beautiful Bible is magnificently bound with impeccable attention to detail. Cambridge continues to reign Monarch of high quality King James publishers. If they had the rights to the "Scofield" study system there would be no contest at all from Oxford Press. It is a very valuable and useable Bible. Stunning craftsmanship. Cambridge has excellent customer service too. You'll pause with breathless delight when you first open the protective, bookshelf slipcase. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Summary: Excellent. No other word
Review: Cambridge (and Allan of Glasgow) make the finest Bibles in the world, in my opinion. They all are sewn bindings, have hinged covers, quality paper, and top grain thick leathers. None of this American mass-produced glue-bound 'shlock' here at Cambridge. I am thankful, also, that Cambridge produces the black-letter edition along with the red-letter edition for those who desire it. The ancient manuscripts never had 'words of Christ in red' and it is an innovation from the late nineteenth century which I find distracting. The Concord has a great font, and the Dictionary and Concordance are outstanding. This is a magnificent Bible to own and cherish. It will undoubtedly last a lifetime and is worth every penny spent. Thanks be to God there are a few alternatives to American mass-produced junk. Any Cambridge Bible is worth it.

Summary: A Pleasure To Hold In Your Hands!
Review: I bought two of these Bibles for my children. I can't say enough nice things about this KJV Concord Reference Edition in black goatskin ISBN 0521512972. The cover has such a soft and quality feel to it. The inside is lined with leather as well. After looking at many, many Bibles, I decided on the very best. The bindings on both of the goatskin Bibles that I received are the very best in quality that I believe you can purchase. When you pick up these Bibles, you don't want to put them down. The leather is soft, supple, and thick. The text just jumps right off the pages. The print is easy to read and more bold than any other Bibles that I have looked at (apx 20) from other companies. You won't be disappointed when you buy the best there is. I know these Bibles will last for the rest of my Children's lives. I would give this Bible 10 stars if I could.

Summary: This KING JAMES BIBLE is absolutely "PURE"
Review: I have finally found a PURE King James Bible. The Cambridge KJV Concord Reference Edition Bible is a beaut!! No modern spelling updates, no annoying cross reference indicators in the text itself, only in the center column if you so desire to look. Smells so good, I want to eat it: and like Ezekiel, I'm sure it will taste as sweet as honey, yea, as sweet as the honeycomb.
I believe this bible is the last pure KJV bible out there; all others have been tampered with and spelling has been modernized. Yea, even Cambridge has altered most of their KJV bibles now, except the Concord, and perhaps the Presentation Reference?I haven't looked through that one yet?
Don't wait, go and buy one of these Concord bibles today; for lo, in a very short while I believe, all the "Pure" King James Bibles will be gone....And all Psalm 12:6-7 will apply to are the "pure" KJV's that are in peoples homes.
The price is extremely reasonable, $80.00 or so, it should be about $175.00----$80.00 is a highway robbery!!

Summary: Concord Reference #RCD267
Review: I just received this bible today and from a quality standpoint...it don't get much better. I was very disappointed at the fact that when I asked for a Red Letter edition, I thought the words of Christ (everywhere) would be in red. Not so. Primarily, it's in the Gospels and not much of anywhere else. I did find a little of the Lord's words in red in the beginning of Acts but that was it. No where is His words in red in Revelation which is contrary to every other bible I have-especially the 2nd and 3rd chapters which are 90% in red. What gives here? All Jesus' words should be in red throughout the N.T. and not in the Gospels only. Disappointed in this and thinking about sending it back. When the ad says, "Words of the Lord in Red", that's the way it should be...everywhere in red-from the Gospels through Revelation where it should be. I have written Cambridge about this but it's too soon for an answer yet. I'm anxious to see what they have to say about this. Could it have been a printing/masking of the negatives error? I don't know.

Summary: nothing better than Cambridge quality..........
Review: In every way, this Bible is just gorgeous. Cambridge has done it again: Goatskin leather, leather lined, two ribbon markers, dictionary, condordance, and presentation pages, India paper, edge-gilt paper. I have the Cambridge Interlinear Bible in the same goatskin binding, another Cambridge masterpiece in binding.
And naturally in the KJV as I believe all other translations are merely commentaries on the KJV!

Summary: This is God's Holy book!
Review: The Bible is GOD's Holy book, given to us so that we may have hope in eternity. All men are cast down with burdens of sin, and this world is so fallen that we should really have no hope of mercy from the LORD. (Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy GOD in vain. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy. Six days shalt thou labour.....but the seventh.....rest.) He is gracious and merciful to all mankind even though we break his commandments every minute of every day. If this version of the Bible was to be forgotten, what would become of us? We are destined to hell and damnation. How can people say that GOD does not exist? This Bible is so detailed and understandable, there is no need for simple versions, beleive me, it is easy to understand! This Bible has the words of Christ in red. The Gospels are the books of Christ, his birth and his death for all our sins. He was hung on that cross so that we may be saved. But only if we truly believe. This Bible tells us that 'we can be saved by faith and faith alone.' I think that everyone should be told about this Holy book and believe in it and GOD. That is the only way to get to heaven in eternity.

Summary: The entrance of thy words giveth light
Review: The Cambridge Concord Bible is an excellent reference Bible. The bold print, India paper and the calfskin leather cover make this another excellent, high quality, King James Bible published by Cambridge University Press.

In addition to the fine quality of workmanship you will also be getting a pure copy of the uncorrupted Word of God (i.e., the Authorized [King James] Version Bible), which is more valuable than gold.

"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward." (Psalm 19:7-11)

"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." (Psalm 12:6,7)

Summary: A very reliable but difficult to understand Bible version
Review: The King James Version (KJV) is probably the best-known version of the Bible. And it is truly an excellent translation. First off, it follows a "formal equivalence" (word-for-word) translation principle. IMO, this principle is much more accurate than the "dynamic equivalence" (thought for thought) principle that most modern-day versions follow.

In addition, the KJV is based on the "Textus Receptus" (TR). And again, I consider this Greek text to be more reliable than the "Critical Text" (CT) that most modern versions utilize. Although, I actually prefer the "Majority Text" (MT) to the TR, but these two texts are very close, much closer to each other than either is to the CT.

But it must be noted that the KJV is not the only version that follows a formal equivalence principle and is based on the TR. There are several other such versions, such as the New King James Version, Modern King James Version, and the Literal Translation of the Bible, while my own Analytical-Literal Translation is based on the MT.

Moreover, each of these other versions utilize modern-day English and thus are relatively easy to read while the KJV's use of the Elizabethan English can make it very difficult to understand.

Now I know there are many "KJV-onlyists" who consider the KJV to the only true Bible, while all other Bible versions are called "perversions." And their diatribes even attack versions like the ones I list above. But I have taken the time to investigate their arguments and have found them to be faulty.

I present my counter-arguments to the KJV-onlyists' arguments in much detail in the section on "KJV-onlyism" in my book Differences Between Bible Versions, so I won't try to get into that discussion here. I'll simply encourage the reader to consider both sides of this argument before making a decision on it.

All that said, if you can understand the KJV then by all means utilize. But if you find the KJV difficult to read, then before condescending to read a less reliable dynamic equivalence version, or worse, giving up on reading the Bible altogether, I would suggest checking out one of the versions I mention above.

My Bible version book will provide aid in understanding the issues I address above and in choosing a Bible version. Along with looking at the versions mentioned above, my book also reviews over 25 other versions of the Bible.
