Summary: Rules & Regulations for prayer?
Review: I like to read and I thought this book looked interesting. Well it was, but not in the way I thought it would be. This book is based on the principals that Dr. Munroe has come up with based on out of context and partial parts of sentences.

Here are the principles on page 14 of this book:

1) Man was physically made for the Earth and to rule it.

2) Any Spirit without a body is illegal on Earth.

3) God who is Spirit made himself subject to this law.

4) It is man via prayer who is giving God the legal right and permission to interfere in earth's affairs.

Farther along in the book there is the "Ten Steps of Preparedness for Prayer" which are like a list of rules & regulations before you are able to pray. I would have to be Jesus to be able to pray, so to speak! I guess the main problem I have with this book is that there are many verses Munroe uses not only out of context but just partial parts of sentences. I personally do not agree with this book and find that my prayers over the years should not have been answered based on Dr. Munroe's rules and regulations for prayer. In other words, I pray...I get answers, sometimes yes, sometimes no, and sometimes wait. I don't do a lot of the things that he tells you to do in this book. I would suggest a better way is to just read your bible and if so inclined get a Greek Bible and learn to read and understand Greek which is what I did and discover who God is yourself. I don't know if this is helpful as I'm really not review writer as such, but this book really bothered me and I had to say something.

Review: If you want to be challenged in your Christian life, read this book. It is not for the faint hearted. This is an in depth study that will make you search your soul before God. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a deeper life with God.

Summary: Thank You Dr. Munroe !!
Review: Thank You so much Dr. Myles Munroe for writing this book. It has helped me understand the power of prayer and how to pray more effectively. I understand more things now like how to use the Name of Jesus, how to manifest real faith through our actions, hindrances to answered prayer and how fasting and prayer are connected. This book, and 'Healing the Sick' by T.L. Osborn, and 'There Is Eternal Life For Animals' by Niki Behrikis Shanahan, have been the most important three books I have ever read next to the Bible itself.

Summary: Some good points, but...be careful...
Review: The first thing that I must say is that I agree in principle with much of what the author has to say. I believe with all my heart that God delegated authority to male and female, and that we committed high treason with our authority in that we gave it over to the enemy. I also believe that the enemy was thwarted by Jesus who redeemed us from the penalty of our treason and then delegated authority to us to take the message of the good news to all nations in preparation for his return, rule and reign.

What I take issue with is the statement that "God has limited himself to his word." I believe that God (and only God) is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. I, therefore, would never attribute the word "limited" to God - not even in a good sense, such as "limited to his word." I believe that God is quintessentially faithful to his word. I would even agree that he has "bound himself to his word." I believe it is wrong, however, to state that God is limited - in ANY way. If God is limited in any way at all, he ceases to be God.

The thing that distinguishes Christianity from every other "religion" in the world today is that Christians worship a God who is both infinite and personal. All the other gods are either finite or impersonal or both. Another word for infinite is "unlimited." The word "limited", therefore, is poorly chosen by Munroe to describe God.

You may think I'm being rather pedantic and wonder, "What does it matter what word he used? The man was simply trying to make a point." Words do matter, because, as Darrow Miller, Executive VP of Food for the Hungry states, "Ideas have consequences." Statements played out to the nth degree can result in gross misconceptions, and where the Bible is concerned, gross doctrinal problems with good folks operating under false conceptions of God potentially doing much harm to themselves and their neighbours.

Further, Jesus in Mark 4:24-25 (Amp.) states, "The measure of thought and study you give to the truth you hear is the measure of virtue and knowledge that comes back to you and more besides will be given..." The corollary is also true. That is, the measure of thought and study you give to a misstated truth is the measure of misconception and fallacy that comes back to you AND more besides..." This is where people can go off into doctrinal La La Land.

Another statement is made applying the 5 principles related to God. The author said that the reason people are not healed is because they don't have enough faith. The problem with that statement is that it pre-supposes that there is only one reason for anyone anywhere anytime to be ill or remain ill. Anyone who really thinks about this would hopefully realise that the reasons for folks becoming and remaining ill are as many and varied as there are people. Any lawyer worth his salt would knock down that kind of statement and reasoning in a nanosecond in a court of law. It simply is poor logic. The speaker's statement is a false conclusion based on a wrong assumption.

Unfortunately, Christians are an incredibly gullible lot, and tend to swallow statements like this whole without thinking about them. Then they go around telling sick people that they just gotta have faith! It seems, at times, that we've learnt nothing from the oldest writings of Scripture, e.g., Job. (A good book on the subject of healing is written by Joy Dawson, "Some of the Ways of God in Healing." - As the title indicates, even she doesn't pretend to know ALL of God's ways in healing.)

Summary: The Purpose and Power of Prayer
Review: This is a very powerful book. If you have any questions about prayer or how to have your prayers answered, this is a good book to get.The thing I like most about Myles Monroe is that every thing he teaches is rooted in the Word of God. So far, all of the books I've read from Myles Monroe have been nothing less than highly motivational, educational, easy to understand and the best part is that he forces you to act on what your reading. I really belive God is working through this man.If your reading this review, GET THE BOOK! Trust me.It will be a blessing to you.

Summary: Prayer's a License for Criminals and Con Artists
Review: This is another in a series of doctor authors attempting to capitalize on the ignorance of the masses with another religious zealot book. The American public has become so dumbed down they can't handle real science, so they have to resort to magical thinking. Doctor's such as these are trying to cash in on the stupidity factor just like those authors who write about phony diets that don't really work.

If prayer were the answer to so many of life's problems, this world would be bliss - case closed. I've witnessed criminals who commit horrendous crimes only to believe they can pray their way out of punishment in a special relationship they think they have with God. This is a common thing, for people who pray to become deluded that they are "special" in the eyes of God. Reality is that they are struggling with their own conscience when they pray, and most of the time they are attempting to overcome the reality of the error of their ways instead of facing the truth and finding effective solutions. Too bad these people just can't face reality that they are responsible for their problems most of the time and there is no supernatural Superman who is going to pull them out of the mess they got themselves into.

Don't waste your money on this book -- prayer is for deluded, ignorant people. If you want to stir your soul, learn how to sing good love songs instead. Learn a musical instrument and study music.

Summary: God Bless Myles Munroe
Review: This man has done a tremendous service to mankind with his wonderful
book on prayer. So many people are content to go through their everyday
lives doing the same things over and over without really looking at what
is BEHIND it all, and how they can really use their mind and their actions
to make a DIFFERENCE. This book helped me to open up to the possibility
that I CAN make a difference -- in my life and in the World. And for that
I am very grateful.

I am also extremely grateful to have found a few other similarly important
and effective works here on amazon that allowed me to further fulfill
on my work and mission here on earth as a Christian. The first is the CD
"Voice Lessons to Go"
which has enabled me to vastly improve my performance in the church
choir without having to pay expensive private voice teachers for private
lessons. The people in the choir have really started perking up their
ears around me when we practice now, thanks to this CD! Amen!

And the other shockingly important one is the DVD by Clint Arthur on the subject
of "Super-Sensual Lovemaking".
I was pleasantly surprised by this well-spoken young man's extremely respectful and
SPIRITUAL approach to making love a holy experience. My wife has thanked me for this purchase many times!

I am so thankful that amazon makes all these fine products available for
Christians who live in rural parts of the country so we can enjoy the fruits
of this great civilization without having to live in the big cities.

Sincerely, Doug Jonstone
