Rating: Summary: Welcome to the Nicholas Sparks of Christian fiction! Review: Bittersweet is the tone of this book. The book is well developed and pulls at the heartstrings. The story encouraged me to accept the consequences of following the scripture and trusting God with the outcome. Without giving away the story line, the final ending happened a little quickly, but that could be another book in itself. But fiction is written so we can escape reality and enjoy the fantasy. I look forward to more books by this author.
Rating: Summary: The Promise Remains Review: Have you ever wondered what happened to your first love? Has there ever been a time you've come across a long-forgotten letter or photo from someone you once cared for deeply? What if you had stayed in touch? What if that love had never died? The Promise Remains tells such a story about an unlikely couple who meet in their teen years and fall in love with one another through letters and the passage of time. Yet, as the years pass and circumstances prevent Ethan and Sara from being together, the two still hold out hope for being with one other. A story about promises, memories, and discovering the true love of one's life, The Promise Remains shows that some loves never die.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good Review: I enjoyed reading the book.It was a little sappy in some parts, but overall a touching love story.
Rating: Summary: gotta love the characters Review: I fell in love with these characters. I can honestly say that. Travis Thrasher made these characters come alive and made you feel like you knew them. He made you feel what they were feeling. It was almost cruel the way that Travis Thrasher played with my emotions in this book. Some parts you're like "oh! that's so sad!" Other times you're cheering the characters on, but every once in awhile I found myself screaming with frustration at the characters! I loved the whole story plot, I loved the character development, I loved the things I learned from reading the book, but most of all I absolutely loved and adored the ending! My only problem with the book is that I would have liked a earlier description of what Ethan(one of the main characters) looked like. You don't know what color his hair is until about 40 pages away from the end. But what's weird is that the author did such a good job of making you know Ethan so well (but not well enough that he doesn't keep you guessing)that you can tell what color hair he has. If you don't want to know what color hair he has then don't read the next sentence, but if you want to know so you don't have to read the whole book to find out then read the next sentence. I knew that he had golden brown hair. It was just Ethan. That's what's him. I'm sorry this is long. Read the book! It's great!
Rating: Summary: Sweet, reflective story Review: I found this book to be sweet and thoughtful. It is the love story of two people who are meant to be together- or are they? The only separating them from each other are their religious views. I grew quite attached to the characters, and felt the moods of the book very well, even to the point of sympathy for Sara and Ethan sometimes! If this book lacked anything, it was adventure, but the author did a wonderful job of staying on track, which made the book easy to follow. The style was very interesting as well, almost like a letter or summary with every chapter. Perhaps the story was slightly unrealistic- the characters almost put their lives on hold to follow a dream or their feelings, but it made a wonderful story. If you enjoy a slower paced, contemplative, sweet story, this a book I would highly recommend.

Rating: Summary: The Promise Remains Review: I'm 14, and I read this book. It looks like an adult book, but I think Christian teen girls would love it. This book was one of the best romances I have every read. I would totally recommend this book. I can't wait to read other books by Travis Thrasher.
Rating: Summary: Mary's View Review: In a world that changes every day, how refreshing it is to focus on a subject that never changes. An old-fashioned love story filled with all the ingredients to move the heart, in more ways than one--t o remind us of the sweetness and inocence of young love and the enduring faithfulness of the God who is love. The author has developed the characters in a very believable way and has focused on some real life issues of those struggling to do the right thing. This book should appeal to all who remember the tenderness of young love and those who believe miracles still happen. Congratulations to this first-time author for a work well done. Nicolas Sparks has some sound competition!
Rating: Summary: A book you can't put down! Review: The author has done an incredible job of developing both the characters and storyline of this book. Not only are the characters believeable, but they appeal to the emotions as well. As a married person, I feel that the book inspired me to remember my promises to my husband three years ago...I just want to say "good to go!" to this amazing new author!
Rating: Summary: Redeeming Plot Review: The Christianity represented in this fiction is superficial and full of cliches. It drags the book down. The character development is effected by this simple and tainted view of Christianity. The plot is good and, therefore, redeems the book. Three stars is all I could give it because of the poor representation of Christianity. This book should be rewritten for a non-Christian publisher. It would be much better.
