Summary: Great book! I loved it!
Review: I enjoyed this book very much. I'm usually the kind of reader who like mystery, suspense, danger and that sort of thing, but when I reluctantly started this book, I was drawn into the plot. What I thought was going to be boring turned out to be very interesting and inspirating and not boring at all. Julia is realistic and she sounds like someone who could have lived in the Victorian times in England; a woman who was used to being pampered facing a difficult time when her world came crashing down around her. Andrew sounds like a minister I would like to have in my church, Fiona is like the person I want to be, and Ambrose is someone I would love to talk with. I also like Julia's son Philip who is a normal teenage boy struggling to become a man. Lawana Blackwell weaves all the stories here into one book and it doesn't seem choppy or jumping from 1 character to another. Read this book! I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Summary: Excellent historical fiction.
Review: I expected this book to be good, after reading Lawana Blackwell's Victorian Serenade series a couple of years ago--and I was not disappointed! The book has very good themes: forgiveness, dealing with depression, trusting God in uncertain times. While it is not intended to be a romance novel, there are three romance subplots that are all very enjoyable. There are lots of interesting characters and resulting relationships, both same- and opposite-sex and some cross-generational. The prose is top-notch, some very nice turns of phrases! Most important to me as a Christian is that the Christian themes and apologetics are incorporated very gracefully and effectively. There is an incredibly moving scene when a character we've come to care about finally comes to faith in Christ.I highly recommend this book! Even better than the enjoyable books by the author's mentor, Gilbert Morris.

Review: I found "The Widow of Larkspur" to be a book that is very well written. Open finishing it I felt like I knew some of the charaters personally. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Get it and read it you are sure to enjoy it!

Review: I FOUND THIS BOOK TO BE BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN AND VERY DIFFICULT TO PUT DOWN. IT TEACHES SO MANY GOOD CHRISTIAN VALUES, BOTH TO THE YOUNG AND OLD ALIKE. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE IN DIRE NEED OF TODAY. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS MS BLACKWELL'S ENDEAVORS IN WRITING HER BOOKS.

Review: I highly recommend this book, and the others in this series. It deals with many issues facing Christians in a lighthearted manner, but that doesn't at all mean that it's fluffy. I could not put this book down. Julia Hollis, the main character, moves to the small town of Gresham after the death of her husband and other devastating events. Readers will sympathize as this city girl learns about country living along with her three children. The author achieves a wonderful story with memorable, realistic characters. You don't want to miss this book!

Had never heard of Lawana Blackwell and this was the only one of her books there. I did not read it right away, but once I started it I didn't want to quit. She is one of the best writers I have read. She is quite unique......has such wonderful true to life characters. It is hard for me to believe I had not heard of her or read her books before now and now have a list of all her books...obtained from Amazon.com.....and can hardly wait to read them all.
