Summary: An Uplifting Read for all Father's
Review: A great read for anyone who is a father! The stories are uplifting and entertaining. A must gift for Father's Day to celebrate what is great about fatherhood!!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Sappy and overly religious
Review: An earlier reviewer was correct: This is story after story about immature fathers who come to the "big realization" that they actually need to be good fathers. And we're supposed to find this inspiring?

In addition, perfectly good stories are ruined by bizarre, out-of-the-blue religious non sequiturs such as "God was remodeling my son." Huh? As if the father has nothing to do with helping his son. One guy prays to God that his son will catch a fish. Yeah, people are starving in Africa, but God's going to make sure this kid catches a fish. Uh huh.

In another case, a father "asked the Lord to help back off a little" when a son is benched. Does he ask the Lord to help him go to the bathroom, too? Sheesh. There's something pathetic about fathers who take no responsibility for their actions--whether admirable actions or immature actions.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised about the pervavise religious content when authors include evangelists James Robinson and Chuck Swindoll.

If you want to hear God mentioned every 3 pages and want to read about immature fathers, this is the sappy book for you.

Summary: An Excited Dad to Be
Review: As a father to be (for the first time!) I am a little apprehensive and curious and scared and elated and ... at the thought of being a FATHER! This book was the best gift anybody could have ever given me! It made me laugh at my silly inhibitions and help me to realize that I am about to receive to greatest gift ever, our baby daughter, and the best gift I could ever give her was to be a great Dad!

Summary: DAD WILL LOVE AND APPRECIATE THIS BEAUTIFUL BOOK!
Review: Father's Day is just around the corner, and what a wonderful time of year to show him your love and appreciation. Any dad will find this book both inspiring and thought-provoking. Written in the style and tradition of all the "Chicken Soup" books, this one contains stories and related articles of trials, tribulations, love and encouragement, just for fathers everywhere, that will touch warm his heart and touch his soul. Whether you are five, fifteen or fifty, through the pages of this book, Dad will find the message of just how special, appreciated, loved and unique he truly is. This book says, what many cannot express in words. I particularly liked the chapters on Insights and Lessons and Across the Generations, but all the chapters are extremely inspirational. "Chicken Soup for the Father's Soul" makes a beautiful gift for every father of every age, and one that he can treasure for years to come.

Summary: Sad Dads
Review: I am a father of 2 sons and 3 stepsons, ages 24 to 37 years.

The stories about the men in this book made me very sad. I needed chicken soup to recover from it!

Like the man who moans over losing his sporty car because he had become a family man. He bemoans having to buy a station wagon type car and watching the kids mess it up.

Like the man who stayed home from work one day and couldn't stand it and wouldn't do it again.

and so on and so on.

I left a good job to start my own company so that I could spend more time with my sons. I wish the book had honored "men" instead of portraying "boys" who still hadn't learned to love their children more than themselves or their stuff!

The books should be called "Chicken Soup for Dads who are too childish to be appreciate the gift of having a child"

Summary: A Great Father's Day Gift!
Review: I bought this book for my father for Father's day. Being an avid Chicken Soup for the Soul reader, I was curious to see how this book compared to the other books in the series. After I started reading some of the stories in the first chapter, I couldn't put the book down! I ended up reading the whole book in two days. I found the stories to be inspirational, humorous and heartwarming. I know my father will love this book. I've decided to buy my grandfather and father-in-law a copy for Father's day too. I would definitely recommed buying this book.

Summary: Encouragement for fathers of all ages
Review: I decided to buy my oldest son a copy of "Chicken Soup for the Father's Soul" for Fathers Day. I like to find thoughtful gifts for my children...the amount of money that I spend on a gift is not as important as the thought behind it. I was pleased with the variety of the short stories in the book. I think a busy man like my son is much more likely to read a couple of short stories at a time, and I like to think he would be getting some positive encouragement at the same time. He is a great father, and I love him very much.

Summary: Enjoyable reading; great to read aloud to your husband
Review: I enjoyed the stories in Chicken Soup for the Father's Soul. Some make you laugh and some come pretty close to making you cry. I bought the book because I enjoy reading out loud to my husband and though it's not a book he would buy for himself, I thought it was one he would like. He did. If you are looking for a "feel good" book for the dad in your life, you can't go wrong with this book. Another great book for dads is 15 Reasons I Love My Dad. It's a fill-in-the-blank book that you fill with loving words and pictures. With Father's Day just around the corner, both of these books are guaranteed to please.

Summary: Wonderful reading
Review: I picked up "Chicken Soup for the Father's Soul" in an airport bookshop as I departed for a four-day business trip. At the time I traveled very frequently, and I had planned to read a story only occasionally, saving them for those times when my thoughts wandered upon my two sons at home and refused to be redirected elsewhere. However, I found myself reading story after story, and by the time I had returned home, I had finished the book and was giving some of the stories a second read.

In the enclosed quarters of an airplane cabin, I found myself unsuccessfully struggling to contain my laughter, nonchalantly wiping tears from my eyes, and silently reflecting upon my own relationships as father and son.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy sometime. These stories will move you.
