Rating: Summary: Accurate skeleton history of the Jewish people Review: The book is slow in the beginning as the author tries to lay the ground work, but don't stop. You'll feel the pain of Sarah as she watches her beloved Temple being torn down, and you'll fell horror as you sit in the same room with Rachel as the Roman guards come to murder her only son. You'll laugh as the paths of old friends meet again, but most of all you'll share in the hope of the Jewish Messiah leading His people into a land where swords are beaten into plowshares.
Rating: Summary: This book bothered me Review: This book was interesting in the way that it covered the history of the Jewish people, but I thought that it was distracting to try to figure out if Sarah was really supposed to be married to God! The "allegory" really wasn't one, and it didn't work for me. I also disagree with the implication that godly Jews who do not recognize Jesus as Messiah (Sarah being one of them) will be saved. I was really tired of this book by the time I finished it.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've read in years. Review: This is the first book I've read by Kay Arthur, but it won't be the last. Her grasp of the history of the Jewish people is wonderful. Kay Arthur is truly a woman of God. I thank God for her
Rating: Summary: An allegory of true forgiveness and everlasting love! Review: This story within a story, tells of a wife and a nation that betray
everything that is loyal and true to them. They suffer the concequences of their choice, but in the end find that the loving faithfullness of the truth they left is still there. This is
a very well written book that is informative, emotional, and inspirational! It is an experience that will bring new life
to thousands of years of the lives of our world's most famous people - Israel! You will be changed.

Rating: Summary: Heart warming aligory of forgiveness Review: Unconditional love is always hard to understand. Its even harder to understand that God will not abandon you. In this story Sarah goes through the fires. She is refined. And, she realizes that "he" has not abandoned her
Rating: Summary: Only half way through and love it! Review: What a treasure "Israel, My Beloved" is! I read it over 2-3 days - I just could not put it down. I have shared it with all of my "reading buddies" and they all come to the same conclusion. You will never look at the Jewish nation again in the same way after reading this book. The mix of Biblical accounts as well as historical events makes this book stand head and shoulders above the rest. I would love to see Mrs. Arthur write other books along these lines (examples: the stories of Ruth, Esther, and Mary the Mother of Jesus). Someday I would like to meet Mrs. Arthur in person and let her know how very much I enjoyed her book. I am an avid reader. and besides my Bible, Israel my Beloved is truly the best book I have ever read.

Rating: Summary: "This wil be a blessing to you" Review: When I picked this book up someone told me it would be a blessing to me. After reading it, I have to agree. The book gave me a better understanding of the history of the jewish people and kept me entertained and intrigued all the way through. I'm looking forward to reading other books by Kay Arthur.
Rating: Summary: Christian Understanding Review: When I started reading this book, I was not sure what to think. As I continued to read, I found myself becoming more enlightened regarding Jewish customs and history. I felt that Ms. Arthur's characterization of Sarah helped me understand what the nation of Israel has endured and just how the Israelites were the forebearers of my Christian beliefs. This book encouraged me to find out exactly what Passover, Chanukka and Yom Kippur are, and why we as Christians don't celebrate these holidays since they are scriptural in foundation. I was truly blessed beyond words by this book.
