Rating: Summary: Psst! This is an all-time favorite! Review: Gunn's descriptive language of the lush surroundings of Maui give you a front seat to the hillarious scenes of this great novel. Beautiful, tamale-guru Teri visits her pregnant sister and sweet grandmother in Maui, where she meets the humble and 'handicapped' Austrailian, Gordon, also a local minister. Gordon's authentic character is refreshing and charming. This book proves that true love is not only blind but is patient. In this love story you realize that wacky differences are God's way of whispering to His people, "I'm in control."; a certain lesson Teri learns in her pursuit of an old boyfriend. 'Whispers' is a true heart-warmer, one that is sure to satisfy those who live by the heart!
Rating: Summary: Easy fun read Review: I don't know what the problem is what that person with the nasty review. They obviously have a major deal with judging everything!! The scene that they used communion asking everyone to look in their purses for food, etc...was just showing how God can provide when something doesn't work out...that person that was complaining about that scene in her review obviously didn't get the point. There is nothing irreverant about that unless you are a systematic catholic or something. God looks on the heart not the technical stuff. Anywayz this was a fun book and i encourage everyone to read it.
Rating: Summary: Easy fun read Review: I find any of Robin Jones Gunn's books a great read. The whole series is wonderful. Having never read "inspirational fiction" before, I was pleasantly surprised. I wanted to know more about the people mentioned in each book and find each character fascinating. I thought that being an "inspirational" book, religion would be everywhere in the book and sometimes that just isn't what you want to read. I found that although it is in there quite a bit, I liked what I read and learned from it as well. I thought that these books also were about people my own age (30) and it is hard to find books w/i your generation sometimes. I find her books very enjoyable and will keep them to read them over again. I recommend any of them.

Rating: Summary: Easy read Review: I started with Sunsets while I was doing a job at a Kmart and we had some down time so I sat down and started reading... I have been hooked ever since! I've been to every Kmart since looking for any new ones! I would not classify myself as a Christian book reader, if I had known ahead of time that this was a Christian series... I personally probably wouldn't even have picked it up. But, I'm glad I did.. I can't get enough! Please please PLEASE bring out more! I'm in need of more Glenbrooke!

Rating: Summary: Gordo and Teri were definitely meant to be together! Review: I was left in suspense wondering what wuold happen to Teri... there were three guys that she knew and sorta of liked, and you are always wondering stuff like "Is Mark still interested?" "But Scott isn't a Christian?" and "What about Gordon?" I thought that at the end before accepting Gordon's proposal they should have gotten to know each other better, but things work out fine in the end.
Rating: Summary: A great Christian love story Review: One of the reviewers said that they didn't like the characters and mentioned that the worldly guy was so false that they couldn't understand why Terri didn't see through him. I respect everyone's opinions, but I would like to offer a different perspective. When I read this book, a light bulb the size of a lighthouse came on for me because I recognized almost every guy I had ever dated in the character of Scott Robinson. And I didn't see it then just like the fictional Terri in the book because when emotions get involved, we can be very stupid - especially when we want so badly for something or someone to be what they are not. I thought this was a great book - like all of the Glenbrooke series - and I highly reccommend it!
Rating: Summary: Not great Review: The plot is actually rather good (I loved the premise) and the writing again is good. However, I did not like the characters. Terri is sometimes boring, shallow, and is always (or so it seemed) thinking about getting married or about having children, which, after a while, gets rather old. Boring (not exciting or interesting) and at times too dense for me. I disliked her brother-in-law for an obscure reason and I was disgusted with the way her sister had such a hard time leaving Terri alone. I understand her sister was older, but they were both adults and the age difference was very slight. Mark was just plain flat and two (if not one) dimensional and the bad, worldly guy was so false that I couldn't believe Terri didn't see through him (her sister and brother-in-law sure did). Gordon was so-so. I wasn't that fond of him and at times he was stupid and annoying but he was a nice person and I respected him for that. He was definitely a refreshing change from the usual sort of hero. I was bothered by the way communion was not viewed and treated as sacred in this Christian fiction book. That and a few other religious things bothered me in a Christian book. There were a few good points in the book but on the whole it was not that fun. After I read it I felt somewhat depressed. Definitely not inspired.
Rating: Summary: Blah Blah Wince Review: The plot is actually rather good (I loved the premise) and the writing is decent. Unfortunately, I hated most of the characters. Terri was boring, shallow, and spent far too much time thinking about marriage and chidlren. Mark had no character or voice at all. The bad, worldly guy was so ridiculously false that I wanted to laugh. Gordon was a change from the usual sort of hero, but as with all the other character he seemed incapable of being more than two-dimensional. There were a few good points in the book, but on the whole it was not a funny or enjoyable read. After reading it, I felt depressed and drained. If you're looking for good, uplifting Christian fiction, try Linda Windsor's books instead.
