Rating: Summary: Good, but not Great Review: After reading a few of the reviews for this book I was hesitant to pick it up, but in the end I'm glad I did. It wasn't as good as the rest of the series but I enjoyed it. Jennings has "inherited" three children and isn't quite sure how to handle it and has some trouble getting started. He decides that a trip to his estranged sister's home is in order. There he meets a woman who he thinks will be a wonderful mother for his children and tells her so, but Marianne won't consent to a marriage of convenience. When Jennings actually does fall for her, she won't believe his proposal genuine, so he sets out to prove her wrong. You can see Jennings slowly growing in his faith through-out the book, not one of her best, but still very enjoyable.

Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: Despite some of the reviews I read, I decided to give it a try and I found it very good. From the beginning you slowly see the changes coming over Jennings as he deals with becoming a parent of three. I enjoyed watching Jennings find his faith and trying to show Marianne his love was genuine. Lori Wick must be a hopeless romantic, as am I, and I truely enjoy reading these romances. I can read them over and over again and never tire of them. I only hope she keeps delighting me as I keep exploring her collections.
Rating: Summary: A Disappointment Review: Having read all of Lori Wick's books and looking for something new, I was extremely excited when I picked up a copy of "The Proposal." However, this book was a total disappointment. The characters were flat and the plot lines were predictable. I did not care at all for any of the characters, and I had to force myself through it. I hope Lori can do better in the remaining novels in the English Garden Series.
Rating: Summary: Once again, Lori Wick disappoints Review: I agree, something has happened to Lori Wick. However, I saw the loss begin to surface in the Yellow Rose trilogy. I had to force myself through those books despite totally loving the Rawlings brothers. And the loss appeared in full bloom in Bamboo and Lace, which was, in my opinion, horrible. The characters in The Proposal are flat, boring, and absolutely not to be concerned about. And the plot - I've read it before in other Lori Wick books. Like was noted before, this plot is Sophie's Heart all over again. NOTHING NEW! Mrs. Wick began as such a good storyteller with limited writing skills that were rapidly improving, but now she seems so much more interested in getting a new book on the shelves every 6 months instead of insuring the quality of her work. She needs to develop new characters with some human flaws, workable plots, and believable conversions. I would suggest to any new Lori Wick fan that they skip these newest books and read the Kensington Chronicles or The Californians series. They are much, much better. Not only have I read all of Mrs. Wick's books, but I have bought them with my hard earned money. I may choose not to do so with future books.
Rating: Summary: Sorely dissappointed Review: I am a big Lori Wick fan, and I know she can do better. I agree that she seems to be writing without real depth and storyline just to get a book out. Ironically I read Pride and Prejudice right before this and there is no comparison. Another problem is the total lack of real issues and problems in peoples lives. The men are gentlemen and never lust. They are loyal, good fathers and are never seen to have a bad day. The mothers are happy and not harsh with their children. The children are perfect and never squabble, which is not my experience as a homeschooling mother of four. And enough with the servants. Let us see a main female character who manages to do the dishes, laundry, meals, and still have great hair at the end of the day:) Also, once someone is saved they don't make any big mistakes, they say the right thing, and understand spiritual issues perfectly. Please. This is not real life. My main concern is for young girls reading this and developing an unrealistic view of motherhood and marraige. What happens when he shows himself to be a human being? Not to mention every mom in the world having huge amounts of guilt for having a messy house, not being rich enough for servants, and needing a little time to herself once in awhile. I, for one, would like to see a little more reality in the future.
Rating: Summary: It was just too "perfect" Review: I am a Christian and thought I would give some romantic fiction a try. I was dissapointed to say the least. The story was not bad, although predictable but the characters were just not fleshed out..not real. Everyone and everything was so cookie cutter perfect like the old sictoms from the 50's. Maybe in the world I came from I just could not relate. We as christians are flesh and bone with goodness and with FLAWS. I must say in Wick's defense I usually do not like fiction novels and her sentimentality was sweet but lacked realism in the characters
Rating: Summary: LOVED IT!!!! Review: I am beginning to think the other reviewers didn't read the same book I did! It was a great book with characters that grabbed hold to you and wouldn't let you put the book down! Can't wait to get the others!!!!
Rating: Summary: Not Lori's Best... Review: I do have to admit that this is certainly not my favorite series at all! Lori Wick does a good job of creating a small, close, and loving community within all of her books. But, recently I must admit that Lori Wick's book are not believable. They contain characters who are flawless and seem to all be Christian. But, this book is my least favorite of all of Lori's books.
Rating: Summary: NOT her best! Review: I enjoy Lori Wick books but not this one. There was no part of the story that was interesting. And kids cannot be that good! I expected more from a Lori Wick book.
