Rating: Summary: An excellent fairytale!! Review: Once again, Lori Wick captivated me with an excellent love story. This story is much like a fairytale with a "Once upon a time" beginning and a "happily ever after" ending. There weren't any major obstacles or catastrophes for the characters to overcome, which was just fine with me. It made for a very relaxing and enjoyable read. I had to force myself to set the book aside at 4 a.m. one morning (just so I could get a little bit of sleep) and finish it later on that day. I strongly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Mildly enjoyable; L.Wick's other books are better. Review: The concept of a modern day European type royalty set in a fictitious country is just so-so. I think I was disappointed because I have really enjoyed most of her other books and this one was only "ok"
Rating: Summary: Sweet, a good escape from reality Review: I liked this book and enjoyed reading it. I did not fall in love with the characters as I have in other books past. I am not anxiously waiting to see if the next book will be a second edition as I have with her other titles. It is a good romance and escape from reality and I like the characters even though I am not caught up with them completely while I am reading like I have been for "Sophie" or the characters in _The Place Called Home Series_. It is an enjoyable story though. I like the prince-princess storyline but wished it could have been a little more adventurous for them, or a little more intense with their feelings about situations that came up and how they finally realize their love for one another.
Rating: Summary: The Best!!!!! Review: A wonderful story. I bought a soft cover based soley on my love for the author's writings. Since reading it, I have ordered it in hardback. My 11 year old daughter and I read Lori Wick's books together, but I told her to save this one for when she could truely appreciate it.This book encourages us that faithfulnes and patience are rewarded by God. We all deserve an escape from total reality once in a while. I felt the heart of a true "princess" in a world that gives great credence to worldly, self-centered royalty.
Rating: Summary: A sweet romance, but too slow Review: I never thought I'd give a Lori Wick book anything less than five stars, but I guess the time has come. I read this book right after reading her book _Pretense_, one that I highly recommend, one which I went out and bought after reading our library's copy. (It's really that good!) So perhaps I unconsciously compared the two books and stories, as well as the characters. I just didn't like this book. Oh, it was sweet, and had some great Christian passages, but there wasn't any action. I know that a story doesn't need action to be good (some of my favorite stories by her didn't have action, they just flowed along as in real life: ie, _Sofie's Heart_), but it helps. This one flowed, but at the slowest imaginable pace. And it was... well, maybe there was just a little too much Christianity in it. Everyone in it seemed to be a Christian; that's not the real world. I much rather preferred _Pretense_ because it showed the real world, not some Christian fairy tale. I am a Christian, but this book struck me as excessive. There were some good parts in the book though. I'm not totally down on the story; if I was, I'd have given it less stars. :) The love story is definitely sweet. Sad prince, recently widowed and still grieving over his first wife, marries a girl from an unknown family who is sweet, graceful, and kind. He determines to ignore her and keep his first wife on his mind, but he slowly falls in love with her. Now he just needs to convince her that he's not what her first impression told her to be, and slowly woos her. It's a sweet love story, although the heroine didn't seem to have much backbone, but for those who liked _Sofie's Heart_ you will probably like this love story (but perhaps not the book). Sadly, I'd suggest that you borrow this from someone before you buy it. I bought it sight-unseen (I had no clue what it was about but had just finished _Pretense_ and was certain it was as good), and sadly don't think it was worth it. Still, it is a sweet story, and would recommend it, but not as emphatically as I would others of hers. Sarah Pearson
Rating: Summary: A SWEET ROMANTIC STORY! Review: I am a very avid Lori Wick fan. Her books are romantic, and uplifting. This book was not one of her best, but it was good. I enjoyed the story of the arranged marriage of Shelby to Prince Nikoali. It was interesting, but rather without the twists and turns I have come to expect from Lori Wick's books. However, it is a good way to spend a few evenings.
Rating: Summary: A very good book Review: I thought that this book was a little boring in the beginning, but as I got farther in the book I couldn't put it down. I loved this book so much that right now I am reading another book by Lori called Sophie's heart.I hope that this one is jusst as good
Rating: Summary: Another Lori Wick book that I couldn't put down! Review: Lori Wick has written another great book. The storyline was interesting and kept me turning the pages from the first to the last page. This is a truly great story of commitment and love. I enjoyed this book.
Rating: Summary: A eye opener for relationships. Review: I, too, am an avid Wick fan. I have all she has written and continue to ask the Lord to fill her with stories and help her write faster!! This story, of an arranged marriage between royality and a common family, gives a true picture of what the Lord can do when asked to do His will. Nick and Shelby had to allow the Lord to work a miracle in their lives in order to make their marriage a "real" marriage. Patience, honesty and tenderness are the key to this lasting relationship. The Lord truly is soveriegn!
Rating: Summary: SUPERB!! Review: I read this book in five hours and thought that it was great. It was so well written and the characters were so developed that I felt their feelings and could relate to them. This book is a must read and another gem by Lori Wick! =)
