Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL! Review: This book was/is wonderful. This is not a book you read then pass on or put in the bookshelf. This is one you will want to refer back to over and over again. As parent's, lifting our children to the Lord in prayer is so important. Stormie Omatian helps us do just that and more. I highly recommend this for any Christian parent.
Rating: Summary: This book is a must for Christian parents! Review: This is a wonderful book to refer to as you continually cover your children in prayer. It covers every area from prayers for their safety and against rebellion to praying that they will desire to live a healthy lifestyle and stay sexually pure. This book addresses many areas that you may never have thought to pray about otherwise. I would recommend you invest in your children's future and purchase this book and buy one as a gift for someone else and bless their children too!
Rating: Summary: Great book for any parent Review: We are using this book along with the study guide in our Young Married's bible study class. If you buy the book, I would definately buy the study guide to go with it.This book gives parents lots of ideas and examples for the different areas of your child's life that you can pray for. Each chapter is short, covers one specific area of your childs life that you can pray for, and ends with a sample prayer (which is sometimes the best part of the chapter). I do have a couple of problems with this book. Stormie seems to insinuate that if something bad happens to your child, it is because you didn't pray hard enough. You need to realize that sometimes bad things do happen, no matter how much we pray. Also, if your child is under 4, there is a lot that is not relevant. Of course, it will become relevant, and you should probably go back a re-read this book every few years. Overall it is good book to get discussions started with other parents.
Rating: Summary: I would highly recommend this book to any parent Review: Whether your child is 1 or 50, or you are praying for a friends child, niece or nephew, this book's for you. The chapters are short and to the point, it covers just about everything, and there is a prayer at the end of each chapter. It is a book I could read again and again.
Rating: Summary: One book every parent should read Review: Yeah, most new parents read "What to Expect When You're Expecting," or one of the other similar books. But if you're a parent who wants to really do some good for your child, prayer is of the utmost importance. This book is a good place to start. Stormie talks a lot about her own experiences with prayer in the lives of her children. This book is divided into thirty chapters. The first part of each chapter, usually only 2 or 3 pages long, discusses a different area of childrens' lives, and the importance of praying specifically for that area. Then follows an example prayer, then "Weapons of Warfare," several Scripture verses on that particular topic. A parent's prayers should go well beyond the examples in this book, of course. But especially for a new parent, or even a new Christian, this book gives great examples from which to build upon.
