Summary: A Gen-Xer's view of dating!
Review: I have found this book to be one of the best on the subject of dating vs. courtship. One reason I like it is that it does not say "you must do ____ to be a Christian or to court 'right'." He says right off that he is not the expert. At the time that he authored this, he was not even married! But he does give principles and ideas to let you decide how YOU should act. Another thing that gives Joshua Harris validity in my mind is the soul searching he went through to arrive at the point he was when he wrote this book. He has dated. In fact, when he was younger, it was after breaking yet another girl's heart, that he decided that there must be a better way! And so he spent time researching, praying, talking to responsible adults, and reading his Bible. Then he came to the conclusion that dating wasn't the only way to do it. This is someone MY age writing about how to find a mate. He lives in my world. This is a must read! Even if it doesn't change your mind, it will challenge your thinking!

Review: Joshua Harris' book gave a practical way for teenagers to follow God on a subject to often ignored by the church. He presents a clear understanding of the struggles teens face, and gives simple solutions. In seeking God now, we will be blessed in our relationships later. I highly recomend this book to anyone, whether they are struggling with dating or not.

Summary: Extremist and sad
Review: Having just broken up with my girlfriend, I read this book to sort of ease the pain and find a new philosophy on life. Little did I now the extreme ends that Joshua Harris would take. His simple points are great and then he goes too far in his explanations. Stories and examples that are used sound made up or doctered to show his point. He neither has creditionals nor schooling for this sort of writing. Where is the proof scientifically? He sounds like Freud in his unscientific method of reasoning. It scares me how many people have taken this book as next to the Bible in holiness. Expierance is the greatest teacher. I give it to stars for the points and only two stars because of his explanations.

Review: This book is sooooooo good! I mean, before I used to pray to God why didn't He grant me a girl-friend. Now I know why! I mean, I'm thankful for that! And I thank Him everyday for the brothers and sisters He has put in my life, to encourage me, to challenge me, and shine my days up. And one thing I've come to realize is that if i can understand "God Will Provide" -- then, i can be a more patient person, being able to feel content under all circumstances, as Paul said in Phillippians.

Summary: A revolutionary book; essential reading
Review: This book instigated a revival in the youth at my church and the Christian Student Fellowship organization at my school. Harris expresses his views and experiential knowledge in a sincere, gentle manner, often incorporating humor to lighten up a touchy subject. There exists no condemning in this book, only a gentle revealing of truth and exposure to a more upright method of treating and developing relationships. The value of understanding a man's viewpoint on the whole affair alone renders the book reading-worthy for any female audience, and the book proves equally essential for male reading audiences, because men simply need all the help they can get. Personally, I agree completely with most of Harris' points; but I still have many questions and difficulties in the application. I believe the author should set up a webpage, or something to that effect, that would enable readers of his book to further explore the alternatives to dating proposed.

Review: This is the best book I've ever read. It really opened my eyes to the world of dating. I just entered my first relationship and it helped my realize a lot of things about our relationship before I did something I'd regret. I recommend this book to anyone who's confused about a relationship, or feeling down or frustrated cause they arent in a relationship right now. I have to admit I personally dont agree with the concept of not dating until marriage, but I got a lot of other good points out of this book. As well as improving my outlook on love, this book helped me to become a better Christian!!! Go read it!!!!!!!!

Josh really got me to think not only about being responsible in my relationships with the opposite sex, but also my relationships with my friends, family, and most importantly, God. It also encouraged me to look at my own personal character and point out areas that I might need to change. I had already come to the decision of "kissing dating goodbye", but reading this book reconfirmed this decision in my mind and heart. The Lord has already blessed me because of my decision.
