Summary: I laughed, I cried, but mostly I laughed.
Review: "Front Porch Tales" is an incrediable book filled with heart felt moments. The author has a certain way of tying back to begininning as he concludes each story. I recieved this as a gift one Christmas and thought, "Oh great, another story book." But when I finally got around to reading it, I was really quite impressed. It was both funny and moving at times and with each chapter I was left wanting to read more. I would recommend this book; to read yourself or to give away as a gift.

Summary: Husband and Wife Agree!!!!
Review: A co-worker loaned this book to me to read. It is written by a man who has a wonderful, easy, reading style. My husband and I could relate to almost each story. I would recommend this book to the over 60 age group. I couldn't put it down! I bought my own copy through (amazon). Thanks for making it available.

Summary: Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!--As Gomer Pyle would say
Review: A fun read! A book to put at your coffee table. With short stories with a moral at the end of each...showing how he'd learned his life's lessons thru the everyday people. A great gift book too!

Summary: Can't help but laugh
Review: A wonderful book. I take it to the gym with me. I have to stop myself from laughing out loud. Philip Gulley's humor hits a funny bone within me.

Summary: Do Yourself A Favor
Review: Do yourself a favor and buy FRONT PORCH TALES and HOME TOWN TALES. Believe me, you will not only love reading these books but you will USE them as devotionals and as programs for your church-related groups and as "pick-me-ups" when you need a lift. After reading "Front Porch Tales", I immediately purchased several copies and gave them as gifts. The best comparison I can make is that these stories remind you of the Mitford series except that these are all real events written by a talented pastor who sees God in the every day lives of ordinary people.

Summary: Great stories of small town life
Review: Early in the book, the author states one of his teachers told him not to write. That teacher was very wrong.

This book is full of short, interesting stories of the author, the author's life and the people of his community. He, in a very short space, gives wonderful descriptions of the people and events of his community. Being from a small, rural town, I could relate to the events and people the author describes. Each town has a character like that described, and everyone has had events described in the book.

After reading the book, I felt that I had a new friend in Phillip Gulley. When I first picked the book up, I thought it would be a rather boring, dry book. I could not have been more wrong. It is a wonderful book, and goes much too quickly. I read it in an evening, and wanted more.

Summary: This book changed the way I live my life.
Review: For most of my life I have sought the answer to many questions about life, I've complicated my life in trying to find the answers. But here, after the better part of twenty-five years of searching, is the definitive answer.....basic simplicity, fundamental values, caring for each other, respecting each other, gathering strength from friends and family....no frills, no thrills in the new age sort of way....just remembering the past, learning from it and living by it, we've lost so much of it......well here it is...Phillip Gulley has restored my belief in living life to it's fullest, savoring every moment big and small. This book for all its simplistic values is the one book, that every man, women and child should read, to help them cherish the life that God has given us, the opportunities that are presented to us, and the gift of small, sacred treasures.....like home.

Summary: Great book, you will read it over and over
Review: I enjoyed this book alot and would recommened it to anyone. I am glad we have writers who will still write wholesome stories, instead of stories filled with vampires and whitches. Anyone that that wants to read a good religious book, with good stories in it should get this book.
