Rating: Summary: Soldiers for Christ! Review: If this book doesn't compell you to get off your pew and be a "Soldier for Jesus Christ", I don't know which one will. (Other than the Holy Bible, of course.) It is an unbelievable collection of stories of men and women that have clearly "fixed their eyes on Jesus" and have perservered with the strength and determination of God. I could only read a few stories at a time. I'd sit in amazement and pray that the Lord would create in me that type of passion and courage for Him. I want to be counted in that number! I thank DC Talk for publishing that book. I will give that book away for Christmas presents - to both Christians and unbelievers. Awesome!

Rating: Summary: the thought of Gods laws Review: The book Jesus Freaks Volume 2 by DC Talk is phenomenal. This book displays other people stories of how they stood steadfast in God. The stories aren't all there is to this book, there is more than these amazing stories. Jesus Freaks Volume 2 is a spirit reviver. This book is nothing short of a quality must have book. Martyrs and people who change the world around them give the reader a sense of how great is the over all missions laid before us. In one particular story it touched me, how people my own age (13,14,15) were tortured and yet stayed jubilant through it all. They were crucified because the prosecutors yelled, " Kill them as their Lord had died!" They realized that soon there were to be in the kingdom of their father, and their death would become the seed for another life in Christ. There are many more touching stories to read and enjoy in this book. Behind the stories there is more for the soul to soak up. There are steps on how to become a revolutionary. On top of that there is a Brief history on of M martyrdom and Christianity. A certain page between this has a list of world changing organizations. After that there is end notes, further information, and an index. This book is full of facts for this non-fiction book. In between the life-changing stories there are bible scriptures that go along the line of the story. And other words of other steadfast Christians. DC talk had input on every story too. This book is meet to be all about the truth. This is why all of the factual information is in the book. And bible scriptures to encourage us and bind the main idea to the Bible. This book is so amazing I will encourage all of you to read it and recommend it to all of our friends. This book can be read to littler kids because there is short enough stories for everyone's attentions, and not too much gruesome details. This book is a definite keeper!
Rating: Summary: Not as good.. Review: The first Jesus Freaks is so much better. I always hate doing this to my own brethren but don't read this second book.
Rating: Summary: Interesting, but not as powerful as Volume 1 Review: This second Jesus Freaks volume is very similar to the first in how the book is set up. There are numerous stories of men and women who have lived their lives to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus Freaks is a collection of these stories, each of them fairly short (ranging from just a page up to at most 10 pages). While the first volume was a collection of stories of those who were martyred because of their faith, this second volume is subtitled "Stories of Revolutionaries Who Changed Their World - Fearing God, Not Man". It is a collection of stories about how the Christian witness of these men and women was an impetuous for change in their communities and even in their countries. Interspersed with these stories are Bible verses relating to these stories of faith as well as messages asking the reader to pray for the persecuted church as well as to live their lives as a strong witness on fire for God. I enjoyed reading this volume, and it was inspiring to read some of the stories of these men and women living for God, but for whatever reason, I wasn't as blown away as I was for the first volume (the one dealing with people who were martyred for their faith in Christ). That was an absolutely stunning collection and I suppose any further volume would be, comparatively, a let down. Make no mistake, though, this is a very interesting volume, with good stories. The one problem that I have is the lack of documentation for each of the stories. We do not know the sources for the stories, especially those labeled with something like "a pastor" or something similar. We have no idea if these are stories that are easy to document or if some of them are based as much on Christian legend as on fact. While I do believe these are all true stories, and I trust the integrity of the members of D.C. Talk as well as the Voice of the Martyrs organization, a little documentation would have gone a long way to answer the skeptics who will ask where that story came from.
