Rating: Summary: printed word of God need to be thought Review:
Well, the Bible is a great book, or a collection of many books supposedly sacred for the Christians, but I think it has a danger, and that's of these people who never has a personal thought, nor a personal ethics or Moral. The I think, needs to be interpreted, not to be taken literally.
So, if you are unable to build your own rules of ethic conduct or way of life, the Bible can be for you as a restaurant for these who don't know how to cook his own meal. They simply pick some principles from here, another sentences from there... and so you make with all this a moral rule. A bad, mediocre one, I believe. This is of course as a dress not made by a experienced tailor, but as a standard costume from a department store, but many people isn't unable to get more far than these. Catholic Bible contains many explanations from the Vatican authorities than the English version, but these are clearly biased and manipulated and I don't trust in them.
Rating: Summary: Great Bilingual Bible Review: Listen up speakers/learners of Spanish and English - here's a great Bible for you! The NASB (English) and the LBLA (Spanish) are side by side, letting you read and compare with ease. The two included translations are amazingly close - there are very few instances where an intermediate or advanced language student will have trouble figuring out how each word translates into the other language. Because the NASB and LBLA are among the most literal translations of the Bible available today, however, this may not be the best choice for learning conversational Spanish or English. A "thought for thought" translation (such as the NIV) might be more useful. However, if your goals are practicing to read in another language or simply studying the Bible in more than one language, you will be pleased with the NASB and LBLA. As for formatting, this Bible doesn't include much in the way of special information - just a number of great maps (in both languages). Personally, I find this helpful for keeping my focus on the text, but when I thoroughly study a text I do find it necessary to periodically make use of a separate study Bible or commentary. At less than $20 for a hardcover Bible, this is a great value. Take advantage of this quality pairing of two superb Bible translations whether your goals are language learning or studying God's word in two languages - you won't be disappointed!

Rating: Summary: LBLA/NASB Bilingual Edition, Foundation Publications Review: The LBLA/NASB Bilingual Edition of the Bible has been a tremendous aid to learning Spanish. I already trusted and used the NASB as my study Bible, even though I had read the King James Version from my youth. I could have stayed with the KJV but found I could relate spiritual thought better using the NASB.
In my work as a relief pharmacist in an area with a growing Hispanic population, I have encountered several frustrating instances when I was unable to assist a patient without calling for a bilingual associate to translate. I set a personal goal of learning to read, speak and understand spoken Spanish. After learning the usual rules of noun gender, conjugation, regular verbs, irregular verbs, stem-changing verbs...well,you get the picture, I still had trouble with everyday conversation. I realized I needed to start with what I knew and build on that.
Being a Christian and a serious student of the Bible, I decided to try to find a bilingual edition of the Bible. I began with the Reina-Valera 1960/King James version, but quickly realized that I seldom say "Behold" and "It came to pass" in everday usage. I would have been understood, but I would have sounded like the Spanish equivalent of William Shakespeare.
The LBLA/NASB was the answer for me. I have advanced considerably in my understanding of both written and spoken Spanish through use of this Bible. As I work through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation (I am only just now at the book of JOB), I am intuitively acquiring a feel for usage that all the rules were failing to produce. Quite often, in a single chapter you will find a particular verb used in several tenses. Numbers, sequence, parts of the body, house-construction terms, medical terms, proximity...it's all there!
And with just a little practice in pronunciation, you could use this Bible to share with a Spanish-speaking friend and be confident you were accurately coveying Biblical truth. Whether you are a serious student of the Bible or a person who has questions about the meaning of life and our purpose on earth, you would be well-served by choosing and using this edition.
