Rating: Summary: Author's Understanding is Severely Flawed Review: Over 1400 years ago, during the life of the Prophet Muhammad when the Qur'an was revealed, the pagan arabs of the city Makkah were actively trying to destroy the small (but growing) community of Muslim believers. In the Holy Revelation, Allah told the believers when the time came, to fight for their right to worship the One God; He told them that to allow themselves to be oppressed was FAR worse than warfare.
The early Muslims were quite reluctant to fight the pagans at first, because unlike the Children of Israel who were given an identical command from Allah under the Prophethoods of Moses and Joshua, the Muslims would be battling their closest kinfolk... fathers, brothers, sons, nephews, etc. Allah scolded them, and asked if perhaps they disliked something that was really good for them?
The Muslims engaged the pagans in many battles, and like the Children of Israel before them, had Allah fighting side by side with them, so they were able to overwhelm forces far superior in numbers. The pagans were treacherous (frequently breaking treaties of peace) and very savage and ruthless (they would mutilate/eat bodies on the battle field, torture and humiliate captives, and so on) and could be counted on to sneak into the Muslim camps to commit any kind of vile atrocity.
Eventually, with the help of Allah, the Muslims won the war and took back the Holy City. In the Revealed Verses quoted in this book, Allah told the Muslims to destroy the hiding pagans where ever they fould them, because they proved themselves to be a despicable and terrible people that could not be trusted. As long as they held on to their paganism they were an enemy who would do anything at all to continue the war and get revenge, including desecrating the Holy sites. Allah said that the only thing that would save them is if they fled the country, or if they wanted to stay, they had to convert and accept the new laws of the land. Otherwise there would be no peace.
The People of the Book were welcome to stay and worship in their own way, but they had to pay that little tax. They didn't have to convert, but if they wanted to stay they had to give up some small amount of wealth (that went into the Zakat fund to help the poor and needy anyway. So was it so bad, really?)
The author's interpretations of the Qur'anic verses in question are severely flawed without understanding the proper context of the events. He gives the impression that he wasn't a very good muslim anyway. May Allah help him to see the truth that he so strongly rejects.
Rating: Summary: A confused mind polluting others Review: This author is totally confused about what is Islam and Quran. He claims that he has learned the entire Quran but he doesn't know that there cannot be a literal translation of the Quran because it is entirely composed of signs. Every verse in Quran points to a deeper reality. There are metaphors that have far divine meaning than the interpretation of the author.
Trouble is that everybody in middle east thinks that because they know arabic, they know everything about what the Quran says. They are actually distorting the Quran and interpreting it to further their own agenda.
There is no fundamental conflict between Islam and Christianity and Judaism. They are all legitimate religions for their times founded by legitimate Prophets. Every true muslim reveres Jesus and Moses apart from Muhammad (peace be upon them). Why would Quran talk about Jesus being the rightful prophet and also talk about killing people who follow Jesus?
It is people like this author who are polluting the minds of people through their "creative research". In matters of religion, people should do their own research instead of believing some person who just happens to be born a muslim but knows nothing about what true Islam is.
Rating: Summary: Truly amazing... Review: I challenge anyone to read the first 12 pages of this book and put it down.
I purchased my copy from Amazon one night after all the terrorism in the news finally just got to me. I couldn't sit back any longer and watch talking heads tell me that all these terrorists appear to all practice Islam, all happen to be of Arab descent, and coincidently, all want to bring down the world as we know it in the name of God - yet Islam is a religion of Peace. That, "Nothing to see here..." type of feeling I got from the media is what made me buy this book and I will forever be grateful for Dr. Gabriel's courage in writing it.
If you're not hooked by the 12th page, take a look at chapter 6 for all the direct September 11th evidence you need to convince you it's worth owning and reflecting upon for reference. I read the whole thing in just a few hours - and I'm a busy man, no novel cruncher by any means.
This book has given me a whole new perspective on Islam, and I now truly know what our troops are fighting on the other side of the earth, as described to me by an author who knows what he is talking about first hand, and lives with the scars to prove it.
We cannot have civilized peace talks with Islamic-based terrorists because their belief system encourages deception. And until the civilized world reads this book, that will always just sound like another political talking point.
This book is well organized, the author's thoughts are thorough and his spirit truly embodies that of a creator he now truly knows.
Buy this book.
You will thank God for doing so, trust me.
